Letter to Parents

Dear Parent or Guardian,

I would just like to take an opportunity to introduce myself and my

plans for this year teaching your child! I am very passionate about
teaching and am excited to start out this year instilling the skills
associated with English. I am passionate about reading and
writing, but my main for becoming a teacher is my love for
educating and preparing the future generation. This year,
students will take a journey through literature, such as classics, as
well as newer novels, and write in many different contexts and
mediums.

There will be more information provided in the attached syllabus

about the details of the coursework we will be doing throughout
the year. Please read through this carefully, and sign off on the
last page to indicate that you have read it. Feel free to email me
with any questions or concerns that you have about the contents
of the syllabus.

If you need to contact me throughout the year, I am available by

email and phone. I am also available for meetings by appointment
before and after school. If you send an email, please allow 24
hours for a response during the school week, and 48 hours during
the weekend. To reach me, you can email be at tjoram@asu.edu,
or by phone at (401) 651-6125.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this, and I am very
excited to start the year and work with your child!

Sincerely,

Taylor Oram

Letter to Principal

Dear Principal,

I would like to start off by introducing myself and my practices as

a teacher. My name is Taylor Oram, and I am an Arizona State
University graduate with a bachelors degree in Secondary
Education- English. I have a certificate in ELL instruction as well.

In my classroom, my goal is to embed skills into all of my lessons

that are applicable outside of the classroom. Every lesson will be
connected to the students, and will allow them to see how the
content applies to them. I hope to give students a better
understanding of literature and the importance of writing, while
allowing them to analyze and comprehend content at a deeper
level.

Students in my class will be expected to play an active role in the

classroom. There will be many whole class discussions, and
students are expected to participate and actively listen in these
discussions. My classroom is student-driven with structure, and
students are expected to follow the rules of the classroom while
driving their learning. Parents are expected to follow up and
ensure students are completing their work, and participate in
meeting and conferences on how their student is doing, and an
action plan to continue learning and improving in class.

I have a passion for education, and for my content area, English. I

am excited about educating the future generation and creating a
classroom environment where learning is fostered and growth is
the main goal.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach

me at tjoram@asu.edu, or (401) 651-6125.
Sincerely,

Taylor Oram

Letter to Parent about Specific Issue

Dear Parent or Guardian,

I am writing to you in order to address an issue with your child,

NAME OF CHILD. Your child is having behavioral issues in the
class, as he is consistently distracting other students and getting
out of his seat. He has been spoken about this behavior a few
times, and it is consistently a problem.

I am proposing that we work together to come up with a solution

that will fix this. Class procedures and policies state that student
must stay in their seat unless an activity calls for moving, or the
student asks to get up. As well as this, there is a specific policy
about students allowing other students to be given the
environment to learn. In order to help, I would like to implement a
behavior log in order to keep your child on track.

I would like to plan a meeting with you to discuss this at length.

Please call or email me with a good time for you to meet up. My
email is tjoram@asu.edu, and my phone number (401)651-6125.

Sincerely,

Taylor Oram
