GRAFF OF THE MONTH
’Part Of Red’ by stenDUC

WooHoo !!!
stenDUC’s piece was choosed GRAFF OF THE MONTH with 6 out of 16 votes.
And it worths them all !!!
Great 3D style and flow, and all those black and red feathers, wooh...
The photo is more artistic taken because of its overall composition : letters, graphic elements (feathers and
extra-adds over/under the letters), and real environment (that old chair and the uncapped spraycans)
Good job, man ! Keep it up !

RISING
yesekvc

The walls of Jūrmala (in Latvia) have been bombed !!!

The most recent reports show that the one responsible
for this is an graffiti artist, not an destructive terrorist.
And it’s true that now all those walls have a
nice throwie-like flow and they are not phisically
damaged at all.
It was a false alarm.
It’s just art !

THE FAVOURITE
’Trier’ by Dhos218

Artist’s comments :

’’Guess my mood, when I painted that one and win a cookie... Quickie.’’

GOLD Graffiti says :

Even this is a quick wall-piece, it looks really good. To begin with, the flow is combined in a
fantastic way with the gray and the blue, revealing a nice contrast between the piece itself and the
colour of the wall. The extra visual emphasis is given by that greeny-bluey outline and by the
rectangles splattered on the wall...

SPECIAL

CLOWNS

Clowns have always been antinomous creatures:

they are funny and scary, tall and small, happy and sad.
Only one thing is sure about them: they are colorful.
And now, they left the circus and went on the streets.

INTERVIEW
MYTH22

1. For those who don't know yet: tell us who are you and where are you from. (short description)

I'm just some punk, father of three crazy kids, awesome bestfriend/wife (KRIZO-BIZO), just tryin' to make
more graffiti in the world. I grew up in Knoxville, freakin' love that place. Just big enough, just small
enough. Lots of overpasses and train yards.

2. What means "MYTH22" ? Is there a special meaning or is a fictional name/nickname?

The 22 is just because of dA....well actually I first wrote KATCH22 back in the day,
so guess it is kinda from that. The name MYTH just worked for me, just kinda fell in my lap,
and fit. For me the MYTH is that there is no such thing as talent, just skill, style, and hardwork.

3. When did you started doing graffiti artworks as a beginner and when did you turned pro?

Pro? Hell no, never pro man, always a beginner. When a writer starts thinkin' they got nothing left to learn,
they die. Hell man, I'm always goin' to be and always will be a beginner. I find that when your ego gets all
big and shit, you can't see past it, and you lose focus. Besides the only thing I usually get paid is 10$, free
markers, and a six pack. Been drawin' and sketchin' graffiti since I was 14, back in the day when dinosaurs
ruled the world and Will Smith was a rapper.
4. How much time takes you to do a sketch?
What about a piece on a wall?

Walls take a bit for me right now, still tryin' to get

some can control, and do pieces not just throwies
and tags. Been awhile for me. Can control,
and hardware paint don't go well together.
But hell a lifetime of 2 second throwies, it's nice to
try and take my time lately with a wall.
Sketches usually come together pretty quick,
maybe 2-4 hours, but been tryin' to take my time
lately, so sometimes 6 or 7. Lots more detail in my
work lately, I really have been tryin' to top each
sketch I do.

5. Once and for all: what types of markers, pencils and spraycans do you use to bring life in your
astonishing artworks?

Honestly, evenything I can get my hands on. Some colors are damn hard to find, and I am lookin' for them
everywhere. I've been lookin' for a good range of purple and a light red for years. All brands of markers
have one color that you can't find anywhere else. Mostly use Prisma and sharpies though.
Got to have some sharpies for the colored linework and detail.
6. Tell us about your crew(s) and your best friends.

CSR, IED, 2nd, IOMD, SOUL. They are family.

It's funny, I use to say I would never be part of any crew, but you got to have people around ya' that make
you laugh and learn, so my crews are important to me. Really it is all one big damn family, we all know each
other. Shouts to JONES, J-BIZ, OPEK, SPYER , CRACK, XALT, YOWZAHH, C-STYLE, ARIZ, TROK, NERKIN, SEVEN
on and on and on, soo many people I missed. To be honest with ya', and I've heard that you are never
suppose to say this, but my best friend is my son Oliver. He just cracks me up and man his little laugh keeps
my chin up.

7. What is your motivation in doing graffiti? Is there

any connection with the music you listen to, with your
family or your education?

You know I started sprayin' and sketchin' graffiti

because it was a break in the world.
Everything is so grey and cookie-cutter. Graffiti breaks
that yuppie ass, cold-hearted, big money world.
Art that has to be seen, if you want to or not. I think
breakin' the law ands all that crap really really inspired
me too.
I Mean it sounds kinda weak, but at first graffiti was my
big FUCK YOU to the world.
You see we aren't educated in american't, we are
conditioned, and graffiti was something that I did for
me.
However, right now graffiti for me is about family. Not
only my family, but all the friends I have.
It connects us...but yeah we are all still kinda sayin'
FUCK YOU to the world.
Music is life, life is graffiti, rinse, repeat.

8. What would you have done if you hadn't been started drawing graffiti?
(and hadn't been interested in this type of modern art?)

Hmmmm damn, guess I would have done horror type stuff.

Nothing gory or violent. Just very 'dark' work. Always been into ghost, shades and creepy stuffs.
Wierd but true.
9. Tell us who are your favourite graffiti artist? (their deviantArt name if they have a profile)

I usually don't like to pick favorites. Right now when it comes to spray I'm really into PRESUR.
Great colors, great style and really out there with his originality. That guy is fuckin' sick!
When it comes to "sketches" I been droolin' over C-STYLE for like a year now. His work is amazin' and he is
a machine, always puttin' work out there all the time. Great guy too. He has to be one of my biggest heros.
And of course my when it comes to handies got to worship the ground VIPER walks on.
Can't even wrap my brain around most of his work. Genius writer.
Got alot of writers I look up to, lots of people out there that are my favorite.
10. What is your opinion about the culture in which we are involved?

It's gettin' "better" I think. Writers are helpin' and inspirin' eachother.
Graffiti will never die, it can grow and change forever. Now matter what you draw or spray,
someone is goin' to come along and kick your ass. That is the best part about graffiti. It is the biggest
challenge. It is gettin' more down to earth too.I remember when I was in highschool, we had this new guy
come to our school. He did some taggin' and shit. When he learned that I was into graffiti, he had beef with
me. Like he owned graffiti. When I got out of school, I found much of the same. Crews where different
then, like gangs. A shit piece would stay up forever in my town, because you couldn't cover it without
gettin' into a fight.

Now it's different in a way. I mean you meet someone that is a writer, and it like you are automaticly
friends. It's like graffiti is what we represent now, not just ourselves. Gettin' caught is different now too.
Everyone should do at least one fuckin' tag in their life. I don't care if is a stop sign, or a wal-mart, or
whatever. Everybody should do that once before they die. It give you a freedom for a moment.
Makein' the world see your name. But now, CAMERAS, CAMERAS ,CAMERAS.
Big brother has killed alot of graffiti, and I have seen the change. Use to be you would go behind any
grocery store, under any underpass, and you would see something that would change you, inspire you. Now
it's just white wall and cameras. My man JONES was goin' to Knoxville the other day, he asked me what was
up there. I told him he would love the hell out of it , lots of hidden places...but man, been awhile since
I've gone out around there, I'm sure the eyes are everywhere now...sad. And don't even get me started on
the K-9 units just lettin' their dog on ya', no wonder your a fat ass cop, you just let Lassie kick my ass.
Thanks for your time. We'll keep
in touch, okay?

Hell yeah TAKETHEF, thanks alot

for the intr-o-view-ness. Oh yeah
man, if you need to find me,
I will be throwin' rocks at these
cameras.

So, let me told you what is the goal of this project.
To begin with, I must say that it will be a massive challenge for every writer who will take part in it.

There is one restriction: you must use only the colours of the respective country’s flag.
Once your artwork is ready,
you’ll have to send me an e-mail (takethef.gold@yahoo.com) or to note me on my deviantArt profile.
You will be featured in GRAFFITIRULZTHEWORLD GALLERY and in the magazine
