Audition Process for Department of Drama and Co-Productions with Syracuse Stage

Step One: General Auditions will be held for each actor to perform monologues and songs. All
directors (or their representative) and the Department Chair attend.
Step Two: From the generals, callback lists for each show will be generated. Callback auditions
by show will be scheduled. Any guest directors who were unable to attend the general auditions
will be present for the callback auditions.
Materials including character breakdowns, scripts, calendars, schedules and sides will be posted
electronically on the SU Drama Production Organization on Blackboard.

Requirements for the Department of Drama General Audition

SINGERS will have a total five (5) minutes to present their material.

NONSINGERS will have a total of four (4) minutes.

You may use the allotted time as you see fit, in order to present monologues and/or
songs that provide a suitably varied introduction to your work. The department
places no further restriction on the length, number, or style of pieces you choose to
present.

You are encouraged to make choices about audition material based on the stylistic,
emotional, verbal, physical and musical demands of the plays for which you are
auditioning.

While you are encouraged to seek the guidance of faculty members as you choose
and prepare your material, we ask that you avoid one-on-one consultation with, or
coaching from, the director of any given production.
