Beginning the Lesson
Write the word vowels on the board before the students come inside
the classroom.

Ask the students if they remember the lesson from the previous class.
Choose a random student to explain what was the lesson from the
previous class
(the previous lesson was about vowels).
Further talk about vowels if needed.
Ask the students what we usually do before we start the class
(we start with the Hello Song).

Tell the students that our lesson for today is about consonants.
Write the word consonants on the board.
Developing the Lesson
Ask the students to recite the vowels (objective 1).
Show a colorful board with the consonants on it.
Explain to the students that the consonants had 21 letters and
sometimes 22 with the letter Y.

Explain to the students that the letter Y can be a consonant or vowel.

A consonant is a speech sound that is not a vowel
Tell the students that we will only learn about the first 10 consonants
for today.
Show the first 10 consonants to the students from the colorful board.

Ask the students to follow after you as you sound each letter
Show pictures that represent each 10 letters
(B- ball, C- cat, D- dog, F- fish, G- grandfather, H- house, J- jam, K-
keyboard, L- lizard, M- mother)
Ask the students if they can think of other words that represent the

Drawing Activity (objective 2):
1. Give the students a worksheet where they can draw a picture that
represent each consonant
2. Tell them that they should think of a different word for each 10
consonants as much as possible
After drawing, let the students recite the sounds of the 10 consonants

Closing the Lesson

Tell the students that they will learn about the next 11 consonants for
the next lesson.
Ask a student to close in prayer.
(Each student gets to close in prayer in the unit)
