Thermostats Used In the Building

We have two different styles of programmable thermostats we use in

the building. As well as one non-programmable one. The
programmable ones are a commercial style that has an occupied
/unoccupied feature. A home style programmable thermostat is not a
good replacement for this type.
The ones used in the Community Room and in the Sanctuary are not
available anymore. If they fail we will go with the Honeywell model
TB7220U used in the rest of the building.
In the Chapel are two Honeywell model TB7220U. One controls each
side of the Chapel.
In the Classroom area hallway is one Honeywell model TB7220U.
In the Community Room the thermostat is in the room where the units
that service that area are. This was done to keep people from changing
it. There is a remote sensor in the Community Room that sends a
signal back to the thermostat. It currently a Carrier model 33CS.
The thermostat that controls the Sanctuary is located downstairs in the
room on the south side of the hallway in the classroom area. It was put
there for looks as well as to keep people from bothering it. It has a
sensor located in the rear of the Sanctuary close to the closet where
the audio equipment is. It is currently a Carrier model 33CS. All this
thermostat does is bring on power to the fan coil units in the Sanctuary
when the space is occupied. It holds the temperature of the space
between low of 66 degrees and high of 76 degrees for the piano and
organ when the space is unoccupied. Once you bring on the boilers or
chiller the individual thermostats on the fan coil units really do the
work.
Located on each remote sensor in the Community Room and the
Sanctuary is a button. Should the unit not be programmed you can
push this button once for two hours and twice for four hours and the
unit will come on and heat or cool as needed. Pushing it after it is once
pushed and running will only take it back to two or four hours.
The office has a home type thermostat located in the office. It is not
programmable because the A/C and heat in the office is not capable of
maintaining the office if you turn it up high/low when unoccupied. The
unit is very undersized. Any home style thermostat will work in this
area if that one fails as long as it is not programmable.
Programming the Thermostats for Weekly Use
For Honeywell model TB7220U thermostats in chapel and
classrooms areas. General notes: Keep both the system and
the fan in AUTO at all times. In the Chapel we keep the
unoccupied heat at 62 and the unoccupied A/C at 78. In the
classroom area we keep the unoccupied heat at 64 and the
unoccupied A/C at 74 in an effort to help hold the humidity
level down. To set time push set time button and arrow
forward or back as needed for daylight savings time.

1. Push the MORE button.

2. Push the SCHEDULE button.
3. Then push the EDIT button.
4. You will need to arrow up and down to select the day you wish
to program then push the SELECT DAY button.
5. Then push NEXT button twice until the occupied time is
flashing. Allow around 2 hours before the start of an event as
the starting time.
6. Press NEXT button. Move the arrow buttons up or down to
select the temperature (70).
7. Then press NEXT button and select the cooling temperature
(73) using the arrow UP and buttons. You will need to keep
about 3 difference between the two settings or it will not work
properly.
8. Then push the NEXT button to select the time when the event
is over.
9. Then push the NEXT button to take the heat to a temperature
you want it to be when the area is unoccupied. (62)
10. Then push the NEXT button to take it to the A/C temperature
you want it to be when the area is unoccupied. (78)
11. You can continue to press the NEXT button to review your
program.
12. Then select DONE.
13. If several days are to have the same times you can select
multiple days and program them all at once. For instance Mon.
Tues. Thurs. 8am-4pm.
14. When programming for a new week it is a good idea to select
Monday through Saturday and program them from 6am to
6:15am do delete all of the previous weeks programming.
15. If you select a day by mistake you can arrow up to that day
and the button that said SELECT DAY will switch to UNSELECT
DAY.
How to program the thermostats (Carrier model 33CS) in the Community
Room and the Sanctuary. General notes: In the Community Room the
unoccupied temperatures are 64 for heat and 78 for cooling. The
Sanctuary is set at unoccupied at 68 heat and 76 cooling. This is to
protect the pipe organ from severe temperature changes. The system is
set to be in programmed mode and the fan is set to be on. Do Not put in
Auto or Heat or Cool only mode. See note below about unlocking the
buttons on the thermostat.
Normal operation is in programmed mode (which appears above the
temperature readout). With the FAN in ON MODE. The Sanctuary MUST be
set in fan on mode. This gives power to the individual units in the
Sanctuary and prevents them from turning on and off during the service.
1. Press the PROGRAM button.
2. Press the MODE button once it will show occupied temperature
for cooling.
3. Press the MODE button and it will show the occupied
temperature for heating.
4. Press the MODE button and it will show the unoccupied
temperature for cooling.
5. Press the MODE button and it will show the unoccupied
temperature for heating.
6. Press the MODE button and it will show Monday.
7. Press the MODE button and it will show a time. You program
when you want the heat or A/C to come on using the arrow up
and down buttons. (Usually two hours before the event).
8. Press the MODE button and it will show the time you want the
heat or A/C to go off. (Use the arrow up and down buttons)
9. Press the MODE button again and if the word OFF appears push
the UP arrow button and it will go out. This means that days
program is to be ran. If the word OFF appears the unit will not
run.
10. Press the MODE button and it will move to Tuesday. The
word Copy will appear. If you want the same program as the day
before press the up button and the display will switch to yes up in
the corner of the display. If not continue to press the button and
the time will appear for Tuesday and so on.
11. If a day is not going to be used at all. Set the start time at
6:00 am and the stop time at 6:15 am. Push the arrow down
button to make the word OFF appear after entering the off time.
The unit will hold the temperatures at the unoccupied level on
that day. Never set the time from one time to the same time. For
example from 6:00am to 6:00am. The thermostat doesnt know
what to do and it will go crazy.
12. When finished with the weeks programming select
PROGRAM to get out of the program feature.
Only on the Community Room thermostat you must press MODE and
ARROW UP and DOWN all three at the same time to lock and unlock the
thermostat. Otherwise pushing any of the buttons will do nothing. You
have to lock the thermostat in the Community Room because someone
will go back and put it in COOL or HEAT or AUTO and that disables the
programming feature and it will run all the time. Never have found out
who does this.
