help the students to understand the immunological aspects related to human health

Pre-requisites: Undergraduate in any branch of Science with Course in Life Sciences (for students with
No biology at School Level)

Immune Response; Organization and structure of lymphoid organs; Cells of Immune System;
Hematopoeisis
Module II: Antigens and Antibodies 20%
Nature and Biology of antigens and super antigens; Antigen processing and presentation
Antibody structure and function generation of antibody diversity
Major Histocompatibility Complex
Module III: Mechanisms of Immune Responses 20%
Humoral and cellular immune responses; Complement System; Hypersensitivity; Regulation of
immune response; Immunological tolerance and autoimmunity
Module IV: Vaccines 20%
General Considerations; Live and Killed Vaccines; Adjuvant-Need, types; Other kinds of
Vaccines
Module V: Immunological Techniques 25%
Production of polyclonal antibodies; Hybridoma technology for production of monoclonal
antibodies; Agglutination; Immunodiffusion-types; ELISA-types, Immunoblotting;
Immunofluorescence; Immunohistochemistry; Flow Cytometry
