TAMFI INSTITUTION PROFILE

The Tanzania Association of Microfinance Institutions (TAMFI) was established in 2001 as a

microfinance national network drawing its members from NGO-MFIs, Banks and Community based
Organizations.

TAMFIs power is derived from its constitution, which is registered by the Registrar of Societies as
a Non Profit and Non-Governmental Organization. TAMFI is a member based organization. The
mandate is established and reviewed by Members of the association at Annual General Meetings
(AGMs). Article 4 of the Constitution of TAMFI provides for two categories of members. Ordinary
members comprised of MFIs legally registered in Tanzania i.e. those involved in the provision of
savings and credit services to micro and small enterprises. The second category is that of
associated members that includes; organizations or Institutions involved in microfinance as donors,
direct providers of product and services to MFIs and those that facilitate microfinance activities
such as loan guarantee funds and direct providers of technical assistance to MFIs.

Goals and Objectives

According to Article 2 of the Constitution of the association, the main goal of TAMFI is:
To facilitate (develop) the capability of Micro-finance Institutions (MFIs) and the micro-
finance sector in Tanzania through lobbying, advocacy, training and information gathering
and dissemination
The objectives of TAMFI are:
i. To enhance, strengthen, and to act as a forum to address mutual interests and to
develop micro-finance institutions in Tanzania.

ii. To act as a networking, lobbying and advocacy body for the sector.

iii. To act as a unifying organ between its members.

iv. TAMFI shall advocate the Government of Tanzania (GOT) to create and maintain an
appropriate regulatory framework for Micro-finance Institutions in Tanzania.

v. To facilitate (carry out) research relevant for MFI development and provide viable
suggestions.

VISION
TAMFIs vision is to become a vibrant network that effectively supports the MF industry in
Tanzania.

MISSION STATEMENT
TAMFIs mission is to facilitate creation of an enabling environment for development of a
sustainable microfinance industry in Tanzania through participation of all stakeholders.

COMPANYS PROFILE

K Finance Limited is a fast growing Microfinance Company with a new solution to small business growth. Through

market research, K Finance Limited established the fact that unlike the belief of most entrepreneurs and even

policy makers that the biggest problem to business growth is working capital, K-Finance established that working

capital is not the only problem, the lack of business skills and right mindset towards doing a successful business

could be a bigger problem.

With that in mind, K Finance has come up with a product that combines credit and business mentoring program.

Under K Finances mentoring program, clients are mentored towards entrepreneurial mindset, likewise they are

given simple business management skills.
