F. Objectives of the proposed project (2000 characters)

Now a days the popularity of digital devices and the rise of social network/photo
sharing services (e.g., Facebook, Flickr), there are largely growing consumer photos
available in our life. Among all those photos, a big percentage of them are photos with
human faces (estimated more than 60%). The importance and the sheer amount of human
face photos make manipulations (e.g., search and mining) of large-scale human face images
a really important research problem and enable many real world applications.
By this one of the important and challenging problems large-scale content-based
face image retrieval. Given a query face image, content-based face image retrieval tries to
nd similar face images from a large image database. It is an enabling technology for many
applications including automatic face annotation, crime investigation, etc.
Traditional methods for face image retrieval usually use low-level features to represent
faces but low-level features are lack of semantic meanings and face images usually have
high intra-class variance (e.g., expression, posing), so the retrieval results are unsatisfactory.
To tackle this problem, we to use identity based quantization and use identity constrained
sparse coding, but these methods might require clean training data and massive human
annotations.
Sparse coding is the representation of items by the strong activation of relatively small
set of neurons. For each stimulus, this is a different subset of all available neurons.

The Raspberry Pi- a newly released credit card sized microcomputer- has sparked a
lot of interest since it release resulting in a large amount of projects being carried out using
it.
Objectives of proposed project:
provide a new perspective on content based face image retrieval by incorporating
high-level human attributes into face image representation and index structure
To achieve better retrieval results, low-level features are combined with high-level
human attributes.
To indicate the power of the human attributes on face images in different
applications like face verification, face identification, keyword-based face image
retrieval and similar attribute search.
To use attribute enhanced sparse coding and attribute inverted indexing to improve
face retrieval in both offline and online stages.
Provide efficient result even faces taken in unconstrained environment.
To balance global representations in image collections and locally embedded facial
characteristics, by two orthogonal methods to utilize automatically detected human
attributes to improve content-based face image retrieval under a scalable framework.

G. Review of R&D in the proposed area (National & International Status, Importance, patents etc.) (3000
characters)

International :
B.C.Chen proposed to use component-based local binary pattern (LBP) , a well
known feature for face recognition, combined with sparse coding and partial identity

information to construct semantic codewords for content-based face image retrieval.

Riana proposed a machine learning framework using unlabeled data with sparse
coding for classification tasks.
Wright proposed to use sparse representation for face recognition and achieve state-
of-the-art performance.
Wang proposed an automatic face annotation framework based on content-based
face image retrieval.
Wu proposed a face retrieval framework using component based local features with
identity-based quantization to deal with scalability issues.
s. Huang discussed about the labeled faces in the wild.
A. Ramisa discuss their performance in the context of image retrieval; show that
retrieving images of particular objects based on attribute vectors gives results
comparable to the state of the art.
Yang applied the framework on SIFT descriptors along with spatial pyramid
matching and maximum pooling to improve classification results.

National
Kumar proposed a learning framework to automatically find describable visual
attributes. Using automatically detected human attributes, they achieve excellent
performance on keyword-based face image retrieval and face verification.
Scheirer propose multi-attribute space to normalize the confidence scores from
different attribute detectors for similar attribute search.
Scheirer and siddiquie proposed a Bayesian network approach to utilize the human
attributes for face identification. To further improve the quality of attributesand
further extend the framework to deal with multi-attribute queries for keyword-based
face image retrieval.
Importance:
1. Large-scale content based face image retrieval

In rise of social network and photos sharing services there are largely growing
consumer available in our life so in this case image recognition will be easy.

2. Crime investigation

In crime investigation face verification or identification of person should be done do

by using sparse coding this can be done easily.

3. Accuracy
In large data set and faces in unconstrained environment the retrieval result will be
accurate.
4. Memory usage
Each codeword onlyneeds 16 bits to store its image ID in the index, and each image
contains about 3,800 codewords on average.
5. Online retrieval time is fast.

I. Work plan (including detailed methodology and time schedule) (5000 characters)

Section 2 :- Attribute enhanced sparse coding : 4 Months.

Methodology for Attribute-enhanced sparse coding
To consider human attributes in sparse representation, we first propose to use
Dictionary selection to force image with different attribute values.
This attribute values to contain different codewords
Divide dictionary centroids into two different subsets and images with positive
Attribute score will use one of the subset and images with negative attribute scores
will use the other.
Images with different attributes will surely have different codewords.
Divide the sparse representation into multiple segments based on the number of
attributes, and each segment of sparse representation is generated depending on
single attribute.

Section 3 :-Attribute Embedded Inverted Indexing: 4 Months.

Methodology for Attribute Embedded Inverted Indexing
To construct codewords enhanced by human attributes
Image ranking and inverted indexing, for each image after computing the sparse
representation
Represent it by taking non-zero entries in the sparse representation as codewords
Similarity between two images are then computed and image ranking according to
this score can be efficiently found using inverted index structure

proposed system for the satisfactory results.

J. Future plans including the development of students' skills (1200 characters)

CCTV cameras are dumping the video footages out of their cameras and application
to automatically recognize a given facial image in that database or in online
