To the Admissions Committee:

Though I have known her since she was small (my daughter and she are friends), I grew to know
her even more as a student when she entered my English 11 Honors class in the fall of 2015 here at
Frank W. Cox High School. It did not take long for me to realize the strong student she was and
continues to be. Please meet Miss Nicole Tuckman, a young lady I wholeheartedly recommend to you
for admission.

A quick glance at Nicoles academic resume will reinforce her strengths as both a student and as
a school leader, yet I would like to give you an inside look at Nicole in the classroom. Her junior year
Nicole was enrolled in the English 11 Honors course I teach. No matter the assignment, Nicole immersed
herself completely in her work and submitted thoughtful, polished products. As the workload increased,
so did Nicoles determination. I remember in particular when we studied Romantic literature and the
works of Nathaniel Hawthorne. Nicole was quick to understand the heady concepts and frequently
added insightful commentary to class discussion. Never fully satisfied with her writing, Nicole carved
time out of her already busy schedule to meet one on one with me to discuss ways to improve her
words. Though I recommended that she take AP Literature and Composition her senior year, Nicole
chose to take Dual Enrollment English because she felt it would be a better fit. Her honesty and self-
reflection are refreshing.

I remember in particular, though, a situation which Nicole shared in a college essay written
junior year about an experience she had in grade 10. You see, Nicole worked very participating in many
student council activities in hopes of being chosen to serve on the councils executive board. Though she
attended just about every SCA activity and had what she thought was a stellar interview, she was not
chosen. Please know this young lady did not give up. Rather, she learned from the experience a valuable
lesson: sometimes things do not go as planned, which means something else will. Just look at Nicoles
academic resume to see how many other organizations she joined and eventually led to know how
resilient she is. While others her age are more concerned with being characters than in developing their
own, Nicole Tuckman is certainly comfortable in her role as emerging scholar and student mentor. I
enjoyed being her teacher and know she will continue to embrace education for learnings sake while at
the same time being able to handle what life presents.

I recommend her to you without reservation and hope you give this outstanding young woman
your utmost consideration.

Sincerely,

Lori C. Molodow
