Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Earth and Environmental Science class! Im Mrs. Rice and I will be your

guide through the Earth. My Bachelors degree is in Earth and Environmental Science but my

true passion is in teaching. With this letter, you will also be receiving a syllabus that will outline

everything from behavior to grades. This class will be challenging but overall rewarding

especially when you make and achieve your goals. I am always available for answering

questions and tutoring; you can find my contact information on the syllabus.
Students will present themselves as young adults and not partake in any antics that may

endanger themselves, their classmates, or myself. You are almost adults and will be expected to

act as such. Cell phones and other forms of technology will be accepted as long as they are not

being abused. The only time that cell phones will be restricted will be during test time, where

they will be shut off and/or collected if there has been anyone caught cheating.
Proper behavior will be rewarded by starting out with no assigned seating but students are

warned that if behavior does not reflect what is expected assigned seats in class and lab will be

provided by myself. The objectives will be listed out on the board for a week and are subject to

change if need be. The schools policy for intervention of misbehavior is clear in the rulebook

and will be followed in this class. Parents will be notified of any misbehavior and will be dealt

with accordingly. The warning system will go as follows; 1 verbal warning, 1 written warning to

parents, referral to front office, and in school suspension.

I will have a meet the teacher night a few days before school starts and everyone is

welcome and encouraged to partake. I look forward to seeing you all there, but if not, I will see

you in class.
