Alternate Ending

Ambiguous- Unclear or inexact. Has no clear resolution

The Giver ends ambiguously. As readers, we do not know whether


or not Jonas escapes. What happens to him? Does he die in the
snow? Does he find his way to a new society? Does he have to
return home?
Directions: Using your best writing skills, write an alternate
ending for The Giver. Be sure to make it clear where your ending
starts (you may choose to rewrite the entire last chapter or two).
You should also make sure Jonass voice and the voice of any
other character you chose to write about sound the same as they
do in the actual book.
Endings should be no shorter than one page typed. (Please,
no more than five pages total).
Font should be 12 pt. Times New Roman
Complete the story arc by writing the falling action and
resolution.
Order of details should make sense within the scope of the
story
Paragraphs should be connected with transitions
