THE
ASIAN
COLOR
my chosen theme for this indesign
project is everything i learned from different
places ive been to, mainly: hongkong, taiwan and
singapore. these places left amazing memories for me
to take back home to manila.
ive seen how colorful each place was and how it was
different from when i saw it when i was still a kid. these
places were the first places ive been to without my mom,
and every moment was
an adventure. the taste; the sound; the people; the color.
my goal for this project is to present the wonderful
and diversed color of my chosen places as well as
showcasing my love for
minimal vector art.

SHEUNGWAN,
HONG KONG

THE OLD
GREETS
THE NEW

It was
my first time ex-
ploring Sheungwan District
and it felt like opening a secret door
from an old house. This was where the
old meets the new. There were many temples
around the area and everything was at reach.
As you continue walking around the area, you
will notice the ground elevating a bit. This is be-
cause Sheungwan and Central are both located
just along the sides of Mount Austin, one of
Hong Kong's mountain terrain, which is lo-
cally known as The Peak. If you're look-
ing for a new place to roam in Hong
Kong, Sheungwan is the place
for you.

C ENTRAL,
HONG KONG
Visitng the world's longest elevator
was probably the worst and the best
MID-LEVELS
idea I've ever had. It was the best -
idea 'cause of the surroundings. It ELEVATOR
had an indie and quiet vibe to it.
There were lots of art shops and
wall art all over the place. Restaura-
MADNESS
nts were very unique and diversed
as well. However, it took us 30-40 min-
utes just to ascend all 20 escalator ma-
chines. It was approx. half a mile of trav-
elling just to reach to the end of where
the escalators will take you to, but just
end up regretting it because there was
really nothing to see at the top. It was
exhausting and kind of regretful, but the
amazing view of the cityscape brought
back the smile on my face. I recommend
this place, but if you're going to visit, I
suggest you to put extra patience in your
pocket, just in case.

LITTLE INDIA,
SINGAPORE

Although, I didn't have enough time to

explore Chinatown and Little India, I was
amaze by the aesthetics. It really brought
out the essence of cultural diversity. There
was an obvious stand about the mix of
old and new. The street vendors were just
extremely nice, regardless of them being
Chinese, Indian, Malaysian, or Singa-
porean. The streets boomed with local
merches, but sadly, were a bit too expen-
sive for my budget. The experience to
stroll around the area was enough for me.
Hopefully, I'll be able to explore more the
next time I visit.

at antique stuff and collections, or
just someone who likes to feel the
artsy vibe of an environment, then
Haji Lane is the place to be. I would
10/10 come back to this place and
just seep through
the artsy vibe. I
love how the place

taiwan was safe to say the most exotic country

ive ever been to so far. from exotic food to
exotic places, everything was so new to me.
i was there during the new year and it was
my first time experiencing the cold below 10
degrees. the night was cold and the day was
colder. it was quite a long trip but i felt the trip
was too quick. taiwan is really the best place
to go when you just need to find yourself
and spend time enjoying the wonders of the
world just do their thing. taiwan didnt dis-
appoint me throughout the trip and

ZHONGSHAN,
TAIWAN

Every place we went was a breath of

fresh air. Nothing was out of the context.
Nothing felt wrong. Being in a foreign
place yet feel so familiar of the surround-
ing was fairly new to me. I would usually
find something annoy during trips, but
most of the time, I felt at ease. We did
various "touristy" stuff, but did it with
a few twists. One of the most memora-
ble moments was when we visited a site
where we could fly lanterns to the sky
with our wishes written on it. I was quick
to get use to the Taiwan environment.
We commuted like locals, ate like locals,
we even went home late as if we were al-
ready residing over there. If there was a
place I could back over and over again,
Taiwan would be the first on that list.

My name is Monica but I go by the name Moi.

I am a student from De La Salle- College of St.
Benilde majoring in Multimedia Arts. Im an as-
piring graphic designer or a director. I am in love
with minimalistic art because theres more it than
simplicity for me. Minimalistic art is my way of ex-
pressing how something simple can be complex
and beautiful at the same time. I used to be so
worked up on the details that I forgot the main
concept or meaning to my art. This time, I base my
art on how I see the world, something so simple
yet so complex -- and beautiful at the same time.
