Purpose of the Evaluation:

This documents outlines a formative evaluation plan. The plan is meant to determine
the accuracy of the material. It also gauges the clarity the material delivered and how
learners perceive it and the functionality of the program. Terms defined below are based on
definitions from Carliner, S. Training Design Basics (2015). ATD Press.

Accurate: Material is current, correct, and complete.

Clarity: Means learners should be able comprehend content on the first explanation,
and complete exercises without additional assistance. They should not be
hindered by inconsistencies.

Functional: The material including Links, Tests, feedback and other links looks and work
as intended.

This plan includes a detailed overview of the scheduling, participants and procedures
of the technical review, usability test, and Production and editorial reviews conducted. The
scheduling is an adaptation of Formative evaluation Plan done by D.W. Price (2010)

Technical Review:

The purpose of the technical review is to verify the accuracy of the data presented in the
Conflict resolution course. Two SMEs will be approached to conduct the review. This is done
to ensure that the material presented is accurate, up to date and complete. The table below
provides a detailed list of events/actions.

Usability Review:

The purpose of this review is to make sure that the material delivered is clear and
understandable. This is a self-study course, so the participants will test the ease of
instruction and if the feedback is appropriate. The total time needed to complete the course
will be also tested; the participants are expected to be able to complete the course in 30
minutes.

Setup Requirements for usability test - Contact participants and agree on a time
date, and location
- A copy of the mock-up will be installed on
the personal laptop of participants and
verified that it is functional
- Participants will be provided with a
walkthrough of the usability test
procedure and what is expected from
them
Usability test Process - The facilitator welcomes the participant
and explains the test session

that he/she will be filmed during the test
- The camera is turned on and recording

reading the narration affiliated with the

- Once narration is done, the learner is
prompted to go to the next Visual
- For the quiz, the learner shall say the
answer out loud and the facilitator reads
the feedback. If the learner chose the
wrong answer the facilitator asks the
learner to attempt the quiz again
- When the facilitator finishes the last
visual, the timer is stopped and the time is
recorded
- The learner is given a satisfaction survey to
fill out

Setup Requirements for usability test - Recruit 8-10 Participants
- Book a computer lab with a minimum of
12 computers
- Send an email to participants informing
them of the location, time and date of the
test
- Install the app on the computers and
verify that its working
- Contact IT to create guest accounts for
learners who do not have access accounts

- Check the audio setup on all computers
- Provide headsets for learners, if that is
not possible request learners to bring
their own headset.

Editorial Review:

Participants chosen based on their spelling; grammar and design background will conduct
the editorial review. The purpose of this review is to ensure that the material delivered if
free of spelling and grammatical error. The Editorial reviewers are also expected to review
the overall layout and style of the program for any inconsistencies of errors.
