City of Havre de Grace 711 PENNINGTON AVENUE, HAVRE DE GRACE, MARYLAND 21078 410-939-1800 April 21, 2017 Fraternal Order of Police Attn: Mr. Franeis Davidson RE: Unauthorized Use of Havre de Grace Police Department Emblem on FOP Political Signs ‘Dear Mr. Davidson: It has come to my attention that your organization has placed campaign signs around the City which signs contain the official emblem of the Havre de Grace Police Department. The emblem is a unique mark that belongs exclusively to the City of Havre de Grace and your organization is not authorized to use the mark, Therefore, I am writing to direct that you immediately cease and desist the behavior mentioned above. In addition, I note that many of the signs have been placed in the City right of way. Under the City Code, Section 151-5(A), itis unlawful to instal, erect, or maintain a sign over any public right-of-way or other property of the Mayor and City Council of Havre de Grace, If you do not immediately cease and desist from engaging in the above actions, please be advised that the Mayor and City Council of Havre de Grace will have no choice but to take all and/or any appropriate legal courses of action to ensure that such actions have ceased.
