 What Is Hazing?
Hazing: Any action taken or any
situation created intentionally that
causes embarrassment, harassment or
ridicule and risks emotional and/or
physical harm to members of a group or
team, whether new or not, regardless of
the persons willingness to participate.

Pi Kappa Alpha Closes its doors at UNCC
In 2013, the fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha closed its

doors due to a horrific hazing incident.

Pi Kappa Alpha, also known as PIKE, has a strict no

hazing policy that states Each chapter is aware that

hazing is not acceptable conduct for any members to

inflict upon one another and that no one should

submit to any form of hazing as a condition of

membership

Pledge Educator, Jordan Litaker
A pledge educator is the person in charge of all
the new initiates and making sure they know
the history, ritual, and general practices of the
organization
Jordan Litaker was the Pledge Educator for
the PIKE fraternity at UNCC.
Litaker along with three others planned a
camping trip where pledges has to consume
large amounts of alcohol.

From IT to R.I.P: Pi Kappa Alpha
With allegations of hazing after a certain camping trip, PIKE was looked into for hazing
and lost respect from many people. One anonymous person claims These guys went
from top dogs to the bottom of the barrel after their actions towards their pledges.
Peeing on naked pledges in the woods while they were naked is absolutely disgraceful.

More than 250,000 students experienced some sort of hazing to join a college athletic
team
50% of the female NCAA Division I athletes reported being hazed
More than 20% of female NCAA athletes were subjected to alcohol-related hazing;
however even a higher percentage admitted to "mental hazing" which ranged from
singing to being kidnapped
10% of the female NCAA athletes were physically hazed including being branded,
tattooed, beaten, thrown in water, or having their head forcibly shaved
In 25% of hazing cases, coaches or advisors who were aware of hazing incidents did not
report it

In a nationwide study of hazing surveyed 1,100 female athletes and found
nearly half - 48.5 percent - reported being hazed.
Thirty-three percent admitted hazing a teammate, and 31 percent said
they witnessed the hazing of a teammate.

The Citadel defines hazing as:
A wrongful striking, an unauthorized laying hand upon,
threatening with violence, or offering to do bodily harm by any
student to another student, or any other unauthorized
treatment by one student toward another student of a
tyrannical, abusive, shameful, insulting, or humiliating nature;
or otherwise requiring any student to perform any personal
service for another student except as specifically provided for in
Cadet Regulations.

Christopher Kibbee
- Left The Citadel after one semester
- He stated, Upperclass cadets told him to jump off the top floor of the
barracks (which he didn't do), denied him meals, threatened to cut him,
trashed his room and glued the pages of his Bible together
- On one occasion, Kibbee said, an upperclass cadet repeatedly drove an
unsharpened pencil into his forehead.
- The cadet accused of driving the pencil into Kibbee's forehead was
suspended for the remainder of the semester in which the incident
happened, and an additional semester.
