Reflections on Observation Task 1: Chit Chat

What was the most common reason for speaking?

- To see if the students understand the lesson and how the students
pronouns the words, to now if they need more with their speaking.

Were there any boxes with no ticks?

- Yes, because this student is a low level, and the teacher

sometimes should talk in Arabic to translate if what she said, to let
the student understand the concept.

How much of the lesson was spent on the teacher using Teacher Talk, in
your opinion?

- When the teacher talk about any subject or reading story, in my

opinion should spent 15 20 minutes no more than that, because
they will feel bored and the students cant focus in one thing for a
long of time, the teacher should change the activity.

Do you feel it was an appropriate amount of talk? Why / Why not?

- I think no, the time given for the English class was short to teach
the student what they are required to study, since the students
were weak in English subject.

Now consider how much Arabic was used. Do you think it was used
appropriately?
Why? / Why not?

- No, because they use the Arabic language a lot in the classroom,
first the Arabic language is the language of the learners and they
are fluent because it is their language and they use it in math,
science subjects. Also, sometimes the students talk in Arabic and
that let the students sometimes understand when you talk to them
but they cant answer or explain when he or she want or
expressing their feeling.
