Kelly,
At this time, the EPA is in the Tarrant area taking residential soil samples. The EPA is testing the soil to determine
whether there are contaminants in the area. If the amount of contaminates that the EPA deems necessary is found,
then they will consider the Tarrant area a Superfund Site. Once an area is regarded as a Superfund Site then the
residents will loose the property value to their land and the area will become a dump or waste site. The area will
remain on the Superfund Site list until the EPA is able to clean all of the properties that are contaminiated.
Get Smart is asking residents not to allow the EPA to test the soil their property. We are asking this because the
residents will still have to pay property taxes, even though they property will have no value. Also, Get Smart does not
want the Tarrant area to become a dump site. However, if you decide to allow the EPA to sample your property, then
please let me know so I can get someone to come out and do a split sample.
Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you for contacting Get Smart and I hope to hear from you
soon.
Sincerely,
Amanda B. Robinson
I am interested in learning more about what EPA is doing in Tarrant. what are they doing?
Thanks,
Kelly
