I am interested in obtaining an elementary school counseling position in the Eastern Elementary

School District. As an elementary teacher with 21 years of experience in the Eastern Elementary
Schools, I gained knowledge of the schools policies, procedures, and resources. Therefore,
allowing me to become familiar with the elementary age group and their specific needs.
Nonetheless, during my teaching experience, I realized I could impact a significant number of
students as a school counselor; thus allowing me to serve the personal/social, academic and
career needs of students rather than focusing solely on instructional content.

My school counseling programs primary focus is to serve the needs of all my students from
diverse backgrounds and to provide them beneficial services, such as individual counseling
sessions, group counseling sessions, and classroom guidance lessons. In addition to this, I utilize
a Strengths-Based Counseling approach to focus on the students assets to promote their personal
and academic growth. My strengths include collaborating with stakeholders to continually
improve my comprehensive school counseling program, promoting a positive school climate,
and applying my leadership skills to advocate for systemic change. I have been committed to the
excellence of elementary students by working annually on the Career Day committee and being
an integral part of implementing this event for several years. The focus of Career Day is to
attribute that gender no longer has a bias in our culture and to jump start young minds to focus
on a future career. It has been found that elementary grades are best to support this mindset.

dedication to the school counseling field, 21 years in the education profession, collaborative
relationships with stakeholders, and data-driven school counseling program are essential assets to
