A statement in words of what the result of the test
will be for any possible value of test statistic.

For example, using the last test we just looked at, a


left-tailed test, we would say:
If ZOBS < ZCRIT = -1.645, reject the null and
conclude the alternative; otherwise, fail to reject the
null.

The convention is generally to state where the null


would be rejected first, then everything else after
that.
