Course Description:
Thisisathreehourundergraduatecoursethatfocusesoneffectiveclassroommanagementsystems,includingthe
socioemotionalclimate,groupprocesses,andbehaviormodificationmethods.Together,wewill:(1)uncoverandstudy
theoriesofclassroommanagement;(2)practiceresearchdrivenmethodstocreateawellmanagedclassroom;(3)
producefunctionalapproachesforuseinyourfutureclassroom;and(4)discoverthetheoristsbehindthesesuccessful
methods.Thiscoursewillfocusonmethodsandpracticesutilizedinbothelementaryandsecondaryclassrooms.The
knowledgegainedthroughthiscoursewillbeaninvaluableresourceforyouduringyourprofessionalcareerasan
educator.

Proposemethodstoenhancestudentssenseofresponsibilityfortheirbehaviorandlearning;
Explainandratemethodstoteachstudentsselfmanagementandselfcontrolstrategies;
Reviewcurrentresearch,ClassroomManagementmodelsandprograms;and
Designapracticalclassroommanagementplanforfutureimplementationwithinyourclassroomthatcoversthefirstdays
andweeksofschoolandbeyond.

ThepurposeoftheSmallGroupDiscussions(5pointsx2)istodiscussandreflectonthereadingswithasmallgroupin

beginningtheprocessofdevelopingamanagementstylethatworksforyouandyourfuturestudents.Throughyour
