Dear Dr. Bruce,

When entering this class, my intentions were simple, to become a better writer and to
pass this class for the graduate program. Through this class, I have become a better writer and
overall, a better learner. With the Student Learning Objectives that were set in place for this
class, I know that I have become an overall better writer through persuasion, collaboration,
critical thinking and more. You made us challenge ourselves and exceed our own expectations. I
never intended on doing more, but challenging us to write more critically as well as think more
critically triggered something in us that we never saw coming.
First, I will use my annotated bibliography to cover my SLOs Persuasive Argument,
Ethical Research, and Academic Language and Design. When looking at my annotated
bibliography, you will notice the research is not based entirely on one article, rather an array of
articles and a majority of scholarly reviewed/ written articles. The articles that I discussed were
also carefully read to make sure that I did not repeat myself or use the same information. You
will also see that my article is persuasive yet not overbearing or hard to read in any manner. With
the academic language and design of the annotated bibliography, I was able to clearly label my
working thesis, my research question and my introduction. I was also able to design my
introduction in a flow form which made it easy for the reader to understand the content as well as
made it easy on the eyes.
Next I will use my peer review for other peoples research question to cover the SLOs
for Rhetorical Focus and Collaboration. With the response that I gave students, I thought long
and hard about other things that could arise for their topic or that they should also be focusing
on. I use rhetorical focus when responding to others research question by bringing in personal
experiences for their questions. I was able to relate my job to the task at hand for some peoples
questions and I was fortunate enough to bring forward more than just the surface of the subject.
Finally I will use my peer review for our Editorials to satisfy the SLOs Organization and
Focus. We were given the task to review our papers editorials where we talk about the
organization and what they specifically focus on. I was able to use this SLO to determine how
and why they used the organization technique and what their main focus was for the audience. I
was also able to use JTC to help guide others with the organization and focus on the topic as well
as other aspects of the editorial.
Overall, with these three pieces, I know that I have excelled in my writing, formatting,
and reviewing of others peoples work, as well as my own throughout this semester. Through the
SLOs, I have a better understanding and knowledge of language through critical and advanced
college writing. For that, I thank you Dr. Bruce for allowing me to see my true potential,
challenging me as a writer when I didnt think I was one at all, and for giving me the opportunity
to prove myself wrong.

Sincerely,
Riley Webb
