Definition
Federal laws: A body of law at the highest or national level of
a federal government, consisting of a constitution, enacted
laws, and the court decisions pertaining to them.

Why are Federal Laws and Rights Important?
Laws keep people in check. They strive to keep people safe with
consequences for breaking the law.
Laws are also made to protect the citizens and keep them safe.
Human rights allows people: dignity, freedom, equality, justice, and peace.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act
The purpose of the Act is to make warranties on consumer products
more readily understood and enforceable and to provide the Federal
Trade Commission with means to better protect consumers.
The Act was sponsored by Senator Warren G. Magnuson of
Washington and U.S. Representative John E. Moss of California, both
Democrats.
MagnusonMoss Act was enacted by Congress in response to the
widespread misuse by merchants of express warranties and
disclaimers.

Truth In Lending Act
The Truth in Lending Act (TILA) protects
consumers against inaccurate and unfair
credit billing and credit cards.
It requires lenders to provide consumers with
loan cost information so that you can
comparison shop for certain types of loans.

Truth In Saving Act
The act was implemented in order to facilitate competition
between depository institutions and it established uniformity in
the disclosure of terms and conditions pertaining to interest and
fees when informing consumers about their new savings
accounts. Additionally, it is meant to help consumers compare
interest rates, fees, and savings accounts.

Textile Fiber Products Identification Act
This Act enforces mandatory:
Labeling
Invoicing
And advertising of textile fiber products

Under the Act, misbranding is unlawful, because it deceptively


invoices or advertises textile fiber products.

The Act also directs the Commission to create a generic name


for each man-made fabric that does not have name yet.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act In Baton Rouge, a consumer claimed that
a General Motors vehicle that he bought was defective and sued GM and
requested the rescission of the sales contract and money back for his
damages and economic losses.
Truth in Lending Act In 2011, this act was amended and now prevents
credit card issuers from charging big penalty fees for small mistakes
made by consumers. It also forced credit card issuers to reevaluate rate
increases. The small mistakes refer to late payments and exceeding your
credit limit.
Truth in Saving Act This act celebrated its 25 year birthday in 2016.
Originally signed by President Bush, it is now considered to be the most
uniformly beneficial financial service law for banks and consumers.
Textile Fiber Products Identification Act Four U.S. retailers must pay
$1.3 million of fines for falsely labeling and advertising rayon products as RB
containing bamboo.
