3rd /4th JUNE 2017 FEAST OF PENTECOST

Dear Parishioners,
This day Pentecost is when Jesus sends the Holy Spirit, as he
promised. The coming of the Holy Spirit changes the apostles. It is
the launch of the new church; it is the Churchs Birthday!
Today, we pray that the same Holy Spirit will renew, refresh,
re-energise each one of us.

In our first reading from the Acts of the Apostles, St Luke tells the story and especially
the change that came over the apostles. There they were locked in fear in the Upper Room.
They were paralysed with fear and unable to leave the shelter of that locked room. And lo
and behold, the Holy Spirit of God, came into their minds and hearts. Out they went and
began to proclaim the Good News of Jesus in every language known. What a change! No
more fear; no more calculations can I, should I etc They preached about the marvels of
God.
Note then in St Pauls words to the Corinthians and us: There is a variety of gifts but
always the same spirit And also, just as the body is made up of many parts, but all serve
their purpose so each one of us have a part to play in building up the Body of Christ. All of
us have a major role to play, even if we do not know it or really appreciate it. Our
contribution to God; our efforts are so vital, little as they may seem to be. It is not we who
do the good works but the Spirit of God working in us. We had better believe it!!

Our PARISH MISSION is on the horizon from 10th -18th June. We start next weekend
with the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity; we listen again to the story of the two disciples on
the Road to Emmaus. During the week there will be five differennt srvices looking at the
gospel story. Each evening service will hopefully help us to understand a little bit more of
our spititual journey. It is our journey in life then we celebrate the Feast of the Body and
Blood of Christ.
Please make every effort to set aside extra time to get involved in the Masses and the
Evening Mission Service. It will be a time of many blessings.

THANKS to all who were able to participate in the Deanery Walk last Monday. What a
delightful trip around Haringey. Well done all!

I hope all our young people had a refreshing half-term.

ELECTIONS:
We have been listening to so many stories, promises and predictions. It is difficult to
put it all together. We pray for the best outcome for the common good on June 8th.
Have a good week, God bless. Fr Joe
