On the ninth Day of CISS.

I look for reasoning in my students. These students look for logical approaches to figuring out solutions.

The 10 Days of CISS

The first day of CISS I looked for Motivation..
Look for Students that are self-starters and enthusiastic learners!

Gifted students may have some of these characteristics.

Some reminders:

List all students not currently in TAG in ABC order on the CISS form.

Remember to share your list with special area teachers over the next 2 weeks.

On the eight day of CISS..

I looked for Insight in my students. I looked for students that
quickly grasp the concepts. These kids make great connections and
demonstrate exceptional ability to draw inferences.

Remember:
We do not use grades in Elementary School for screening or
eligibility.
Levels and standardized test scores are only used for screening,
not eligibility.
***Forms are due this FRIDAY to Dr. Henry. Thank you!!

On the sixth day of CISS..

I looked at my students communication skills. I look for students
that are highly expressive or communicates artistically. They may
use clever examples, illustrations or elaborations.

True or False:

If a student has been tested before, I shouldnt bother putting checkmarks

for him/her on CISS because they wont be tested again.
FALSE: We can use multiple criteria testing and can use different tests.

Once the student has been CISSed then he/she will be tested for TAG.
FALSE: There must be a supporting piece of data.
This is the new list of what can be looked at for supporting documentation:
Advanced Levels, Outstanding work, Star Scores, Previous mental ability
score>96%, achievement scores> 90% on a national normed test, or 90% on a
creativity test.

Gifted Children are usually gifted in all academic areas.

False: Students can be gifted in only one area and not in others.

Students earning poor or average grades cannot be gifted.

ALL Gifted students are happy, well-adjusted, motivated and organized.

I looked for problem-solving through non-

Remember these ideas may be silly!!! These kids
are creative, not necessarily neat and organized.
On

Subject: CISS meeting

Hi ladies,

The CISS meeting for all new teachers to Fulton County and anyone else who would like a refresher is scheduled tentatively for Thursday, January 5 at 8:00. We will meet in my

room. I am making copies of the CISS materials and talking points and will put them in your boxes. Do you want to meet this week or next for a few minutes to divide the work?

Hopefully we can get a few things checked from your TAG requirements.

I appreciate all of you very much!!!

Thanks,

Cynthia
