5.1 learners should not mainly focus about learning


about the environment only but to also focus and
learn about environmental education.

5.2 holistic approach to learning in environmental


education is important and need to be taken into action.
Environmental learning is all about knowledge. It is
required that you need to have knowledge so you can
study better and find solutions to the environmental
problems.
5.3 learners need to be taught and told about the
responsibility of keeping the environment clean at a
young age. Learners have a different way of grasping
information at certain ages and different characteristics.
Some learners prefer to learning when they are listening
to an audio (auditory learners). Some prefer verbal
learning and other learning through moving or touching
stuff. More practical.

1948 the start of the World Wildlife Fund which handles the
conservation of wild animals.
1946 UNESCO was established for developing environmental
education and conservation.
1972 United Nations Conference of Human Environment
Stockholm.
1975 the first international workshop about Environmental
Education conference was held in Belgrade, Yugoslavia.
1977 14 October .the Tbilisi conference was held where 12
principles for environment education were created.
1980 establishment of a document about world conservation
strategy which had a strong impact on environmental education.
1992, Rio Summit, the start of a treaty on environmental
education for sustainable societies.
1997 Earth Summit was held. It emphasized again the role
environmental education support for sustainable development.
2002 at the WSSD held in Johannesburg the role of education was
emphasized.

2.1 the environment needs to be kept clean and protected at all


times. Children need to be taught the value of environment
around them. They should be constantly be reminded that
polluting the earth is also destroying it.

2.2 discipline and respect towards ourselves.

2.3 teachers need to implement rules that will make sure that the
learners follow them and also make sure that learners who do not
follow these rules will be dealt with in a proper manner.

2.4 the school management need to set a good example in order


for things to go accordingly. If they dont set a good example, then
the learners wont be motivated to do the same. E.g. is a teacher
leaves a tap dripping should be reprimanded.

2.5 learners who do dont comply to these issues will get


disciplinary action. E.g. on a Friday the learners who did not follow
the rules will be made to clean the school grounds (community
service) in their last 15 minutes of their break time or sit
detention.
