AQMS Collects the necessary knowledge for decision makers
To know the sources and level of pollution
To plan what to do based on the information
To warn people about especially high level pollutions

Typical measured components:

Nitrogen oxides (NOx),

Ozone (O3),
Carbon monoxide (CO),
Sulfur dioxide (SO2),
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC),
Particles (dust and smoke) in different
size fractions (PM10, PM2.5, PM1, TSP)
Meteorological conditions
AQMS structure

The basic elements of an AQMS are the automated measurement stations.

They measure and collect the data without everyday human action.

The measurement stations are modular and have different versions and options.
The exact composition of a station is decided by what is needed and what can
be afforded.

Generally two main type of stations can be considered.

A bigger laboratory container with advanced instrumentation (container station)

A smaller wall or pole mounted box with simplified equipment (TVS-3 station)
AQ Container stations
According to the general practice, over 200.000 inhabitants, 1 AQMS has to be
established.

Regarding the Hungarian National Network, there are 60 fix AQMSs (different types
as per traffic, urban/suburban and background) all over Hungary for the 10 millions
of inhabitants.

The installation place should not be closely

surrounded by heavy traffics, high contamination
releasing factory's, tall buildings, because the
measured gas concentration, wind speed and
direction measurement would become unreliable.

A container station can be built on concrete

base or on an accessible building top.

The size of the container is variable,

about 3 x 2.4 x 2 m is considered typical.
AQ Container stations
The stations are equipped with a built in mounting, electric and pneumatic
system and air conditioning to support the laboratory equipment. The station
can be implemented in a vehicle to.

Contains:

Sampling system

Analyzers for the measured

components

Equipment for automatic calibration

Data acquisition and transmission

Meteorology measurement on the

top of the container
TVS-3 compare to container station
Feature of TVS-3:
Supplement for traditional reference stations built on analyzers.
With wide measuring range can be used in relatively polluted areas, where more
measuring point is needed (cities, main roads).
It can be used to economically build denser network in critical areas.
Measured concentrations fit to WHO air quality standards
Less space is required for installation, providing more possibilities.
Wide range of possible communication channels to data central
Local data collector used in case of network break down (up to 1 month)
Upgradeable with new modules after installation
On-site calibration with etalons
Less onsite maintenance and calibration (no air-conditioning is needed)
Wide temperature and humidity operation mode (suitable for Vietnam)

TVS-3 environment monitoring stations
The TVS-3 monitoring station measures the different
parameters of the environment and sends the measurement
data to the central data acquisition unit.
TVS-3 is an automatic device that is capable of the continuous
and independent monitoring of an area helping the prompt
evaluation of a current situation and determining the spread
of environment polluting materials.
Installed monitoring stations:
A pre-installed early alarm system can provide continuous
supervision, and information right from the beginning, allowing
immediate intervention, if necessary. It is operational without any
human interference.
Functional on country, county and site levels.
Mobile monitoring stations:
Portable or vehicle onboard system.
Periodical checks.
In case of emergency or suspicious on-site verification.
Simple usage without external power source.
Sample collection for future laboratory measurements
TVS-3 environment monitoring stations
Measured parameters :
Criteria pollutants: CO, NOx, SO2, O3, VOC
Particles: PM10, PM2.5, PM1, TSP
Toxic industrial gases: NH3, H2S, HF, Cl2,
Flammable gases: LEL
CWA

is recommended, similarly to AQMS.
Water Quality Monitoring
Basic container capable of measuring the following
parameters:
pH: 014 pH
ORP: -1000+1000 mV
Water temperature: 050C
Conductivity: 0200 mS/cm
Dissolved oxygen: 020 mg/l; 0200%
Turbidity: 04.000 NTU
Air temperature: 050C
Air temperature inside: 050C

An extended container is suitable to measure the basic

parameters and the following parameters to:
TOC: 050 mg/l C
Ammonium: 02 mg/l NH4-N

for basic parameters.

There is possible version to

measure far from land -
floating buoy.
More measuring point across
the river.
The complete station can be
installed in a floating buoy.
Industrial Plant Monitoring
Gamma Technical Co. has built a countrywide industrial monitoring system in
Hungary with more than 600 stations, over 1200 sensors and the
communication system for the disaster management.
Examples of detected gases:
Authorities can
issue warnings Flammable gases like methane, propane, solvent vapors
based on the Carbon monoxide (steel plants)
data of all the Chlorine, phosgene (pesticide plants)
stations. Dimethyl amine, acrylonitrile (plants for acryl and amine based plastics)
