1-What was/were the learning objectives/outcomes of the lesson?(Add state objectives if


known, for example, TEKS 111.4. Grade 2.b.)

Identify geometric shapes

Same shapes and name the type of shape

How shapes are alike or different

2-How did the teacher begin and end the lesson?

She start a funny thing that happened when she was a same age her students. Mrs. Norman show
some toys to the class and ask to question about shapes? After 15 minutes she start to lecture and
teach to geometric shapes. Last couple minutes she gave some homework. She remainding dont
forget to write your name top.

3-What did the teacher use for teaching materials or instructional aids/equipment?

Projector
Notebook
Textbook
Whiteboard
Some object ( toys for showing to shape)

4-Which instructional methods and strategies did the teacher use?(lecture, inquiry, discovery
learning, discussions, games or simulations, demonstrations, cooperative learning, integration of
technology, socrativequestioning, etc)

Mrs. Norman used to lecture, questioning and discussion methods. She show to students a ball
and a dice then she ask a question about their shapes.
5-How did the teacher assess learning? (informal, formal, formative, summative, oral, open-
ended, quiz, feedback etc)See Chapter 8 for more information on assessment methods

She used to informal learning methods. At the end of the class, Mrs. Norman gave her students a
two question quiz.

6- What can you say about the teachers philosophy/beliefs and


style?(Traditional/progressive, behaviorist, student-centered vs. teacher centered, authoritative
etc)

Mrs. Normans style is student-centered style .During the lecture, her students are not passive so
they search for the objects around the classroom.

7-How does the teacher manage classroom? Can you identify classroom management
techniques used?

She not sit too long a one place, she move around the classroom. Mrs. Norman try to involve many
students not just her favorite students. She not speak so fast, her voice level that can be heard easily back
of the room

8-Observe in the classroom setting and determine types of behavior students play when off-
task. What do they do when they are not paying attention? How does the teacher re-direct
them or get them back on task?

She has a clip up behavior chart in her class. If the students talked each other, played with
something else or not listen their teacher they get clip down.

9-How does the teacher communicate with students (verbal, vocal, meta-verbal or non-verbal
communication such as facial, body language, use of space, motion and time?)

Mostly, Mrs. Norman used verbal and vocal communication.

10-Who were the students in the class? What did you notice about them? (Background,
diversity, attitude, motivation, interaction, participation, etc)

There were four tables and five students sat each table. The class was nineteen regular students
and one special education student. They were having hard time to concentrate but they interacted
with each other the activity time.

11-What did you see that is effective in engaging students? What do you see that is
ineffective in keeping students engaged?

Effective is; using contracts, charts and behavior modification systems.


Ineffective is; using different learning styles to plan instruction (learner is visual, auditory,
kinesthetic,..).

12-What are the two instructional strategies you observed and would like to apply in your
classroom?

I learn many effective strategies in Mrs. Normans class.

13-What are two important classroom management strategies that you observed and would
like to apply in your classroom?

Mrs. Norman classroom rules arent vague, the students understand what is expected of them in
the classroom. She has very organizing effective lecture and gain studentattention.She loves her
job and students.
