1 STEP ONE 772
Choose between Dual-slope and Flat-floor
Two critical factors affecting the choice of bed style are:
773F
775F
Grade
Dual-slope beds retain loads better on steeper grades.
Material Metering
Flat-floor beds have excellent material metering capabilities.

2 STEP TWO
Choose the liner to complete the body system
Three critical factors affecting the choice of liners are:
Material Condition
Poorly fragmented material requires a heavier liner to
absorb the impact of the load and to optimize the life
of the body. At the same time, if the liner is heavier
than required for the given material condition, it will

compromise the payload due to increased liner weight.
Material Abrasiveness
Depending on the material abrasiveness, choosing the
right liner is important to optimize the life of the body
system. Heavy duty steel and rubber liners provide
superior protection in highly abrasive material conditions.
Operator Comfort
Rubber body systems, with their excellent impact
absorption, provide the maximum level of operator comfort.
Rubber liners also absorb sound, minimizing spectator noise.

Greater than 20,000 hrs.
Loading Tool Tip Life
Greater than 1,000 hrs.

Trying to correlate loading tip wear to liner life
Medium 10,000 to 20,000 hrs. 250 hrs to 1,000 hrs. How many hours are on the truck liner when it is replaced?
High Less than 10,000 hrs. Less than 250 hrs. How many hours are on the bucket tool tips when they are replaced?

F
IMPACT Clearance Loading Tool to Body Average Material Fragmentation Maximum Material Size*
Low* Less than 30 cm (Less than 12) Less than 2.5 cm (Less than 1) 30 cm (12)
Medium 30 cm to 60 cm (12 to 24) 2.5 cm to 30 cm (1 to 12) 60 cm (24)
High Greater than 60 cm (Greater than 24) 30 cm to 60 cm (12 to 24) 90 cm (36)

F
*Low Clearance category applies only to the 770 & 773F trucks due to the sidewall height. Exceeding maximum material size will
adversely effect body life. To achieve durability of the body, loading maximum material size rocks in the first pass is not recommended.

Loading tool clearance is the vertical distance between the loader bucket and body sidewall while dumping material into the body.
How much distance is there between the loading tool bucket and the body sidewall during loading?
What is the fragmentation size of the material and is it uniform size?

Other Considerations
Will body exhaust be required to keep material from sticking to the body liner?
Rubber liners offer four times the impact resistance of steel as well as reduce impact loading noise but cannot
be used with body exhaust option.
If the present body liner has deformation marks on the floor or sides, a thicker liner should be considered.
See Special Instruction Inspection Procedure for the Truck Body and Body Liner Plates media number REHS5062-00
for more information about deformation marks and liner wear.

New Quarry Body Offering

To better serve the quarry and aggregate industry, a new quarry body is now available.
This new body is designed to handle low to medium density / abrasive material without the
use of liners. They are designed with a 400 HBN steel body. This high quality hardened
steel is much more abrasive resistant and leads to greater wear resistance, and less
weight, while eliminating the use of liners in most material. This will result in lower cost per
tonnes, increased payloads, and lower operating cost by eliminating liner replacement and
maintenance costs.

The following chart outlines quarry material, material hardness, and selection guidelines for
the Quarry Body. Depending on material density, side boards may be needed to reach rated
payload. Please consider the 10/10/20 policy when equipping your truck body with side boards.
The 10/10/20 policy stipulates that no more than 10 percent of loads should exceed the target
payload by 10 percent and no load should exceed the target payload by 20 percent. This policy
was developed to provide the optimal low cost solution while achieving maximum truck life with
minimum downtime.

The Quarry Body will be available in 2010* for the 770, 772, and 775F Quarry Construction Trucks.
