Chapter 5

Conclusion and Recommendation

This research study is aimed at investigating the current weaknesses of the labour
productivity in Ormoc City construction sites and the differences on the perceptions of the
productivity problems by the management level and worker level. Owing to the low labour
productivity in the Hong Kong construction industry, labour is considered to be the most
influential factor. The aim of this research was originally aimed at finding the most serious root
cause that hinders the labour productivity identified by the site staff.

However, an additional objective was made in the design of the research study so that
responses from both workers and management could be captured. The same questionnaire was
used with these 5 respondents and when the responses were received the data was separated into
5 sheets. These 5 sheets are the individual questioner for individual construction asked.

This research shows in order for us to be success and safe in our work we should follow
the rules and regulation of our work. Know the things that will keep us safe and how to prevent
from getting into accident. And also know the important things that we should do and we
shouldnt do.

Improving relative productivity growth improves a countrys competitive position. The

construction industry most challenging and demanding still many opportunities for productivity
improvement. Research shows that occupational safety and health improved (less health
complaints and less accidents) when working conditions and work organization ameliorated.
Improving safety improves productivity.

The current research study was limited to the building construction industry in Ormoc
City .Future study could be done in other parts of the world and could emphasize specific types
of building construction, including commercial, education, government buildings, etc. A study
similar to the present research is needed for transportation projects to find factors that affect the
productivity of construction, which will help the construction project to minimize unnecessary
cost escalations and project-schedule delays. Federal and state governments invest significant
amounts of capital on road construction.
