1 Answer the following: 2x10


(a) An amplifier has a current gain of 60dB and a power gain of 50dB. Find its voltage gain
in dB.
(b) A signal is represented by Y=5 sin (628t+300). Find the frequency, amplitude and initial
phase of the signal.
(c) Write down four applications of diode.
(d) Distinguish between avalanche breakdown and zener breakdown in a PN junction diode.
(e) Derive the relationship between and of a BJT.
(f) How BJT can be used as a switch?
(g) List the advantages of a negative feedback amplifier.
(h) What are the functions of sweep trigger and sweep generator in CRO?

(j) Realize a NOR gate using NAND gates only.

2. A diode having an internal resistance of 20 is used for center tapped full wave
rectification. If the applied voltage is V=50sin (t) and the load resistance is 1k, determine the
