No. 1. Contractor A person who undertakes to produce a given result for the establishment, other than a mere supply of goods or articles of manufacture to such establishment, through contract labor or who supplies contract labor for any work of the establishment and includes a sub-contractor. It might be the following also i) any office or department of Government ii) any place where any industry, trade, business, manufacture or occupation is carried on. 2. Workmen Any person employed in or in connection with the work of any establishment to do any skilled, semi-skilled or un-skilled manual, supervisory, technical or clerical work for hire or reward whether the terms of employment be expressed or implied but does not include an such person i) who is in an managerial capacity ii) draws more than 750 rupees per mensem iii) who is an outworker whos duties are of managerial in nature iv) carrying on the work in a place where the premises are not in the control of the principal employer. 3. Application of the act 20 or more for all establishments. 4. Canteens Employees are 100 or more than one or more canteens. Also the work which they are doing should be more than for 6 months. 5. Restrooms If the work is going to continue for more than 3 months. 6. Creches 20 or more women are ordinarily employed. Two rooms should be provided. 7. Exemption State government has powers to exempt any establishment during emergency. 8. Applicability of other The Employee Provident Fund Act, The ESI Act, The Factories Act, The acts I.D.
