"Spring"byAntonioVivaldiisoneofthebestlovedpiecesfromthebaroque
periodofthe1700's.Publishedin1725itstillremainsfreshandinstantly
recognizable.Themusictellsthestoryofspringandincludessomeexcellent
virtuososections.Anyofyounotfamiliarwiththe"FourSeasons"collection
aregreatlyencouragedtopickupacopyonCD.

Myadaptationforguitar(s)isprobablygoingtocauseAntoniotorolloverin
hisgrave,becauseitisimpossibletodojusticetotheharmony,melody,and
counterpointofthepiece,withonlytwohands.However,withalittlework
andalittlelisteningtotheCDwecanprobablyobtainareasonablerendition
ofthetune.

ThepiecebeginswithanintroandthenthemainthemewhichIhaveharmonized
toincorporateboththeleadandharmonyviolins.Feelfreetointerpretthis
asmuchasyoulike(MayIsuggestsomedelayandperhapsatremolodrophere
andthere)?Ortrythiswithtwoguitaristsandabassforsomeharmonizing
thatwouldmakeSatrianiproud.

Thepieceis"Allegro"orfast,andsomeofthepartsare32ndnoteswhich,
forallintentsandpurposes,arejustblurs.Suchsectionshaveasterisks
abovethemtodenote"playasfastasyoucan."

Thebassnotes(E&Astrings)areintendedtobeplayedbyabassplayeror
anotherinstrument,asthefingeringsgetkindoftoughtoplaythewhole
thingtogether.Mostofthetimetheyarestraightquarternotesandtherefore
mighthelptoclarifythecountintheTAB.

OfcourseweallknowthatTABisforfingeringsonlyandisnearlyworthless
withoutthesheetmusic...oranexcellentunderstandingofthetune...
butgiveitashotanyway.Soherewegowiththefirstmovementof"Spring"
