Preparation
Duplicate one set of worksheets (game board and
cue cards) per group and mount on construction
paper. Cut the cue cards apart and mix them.

Procedure

1. Tell students they are going play a game in groups. Their

goal is to move their markers from START to FINISH,
making plausible and correct sentences with the future
continuous and the future with will.
2. Put students in groups. Give each group a game board
and a stack of cue cards. Each student finds a marker an
eraser, paper clip, coin, or other small object and places
it on START. If dice are available, students can use one
die and roll it for the numbers one to six. If not, they can
cut six small pieces of paper, write the numbers one to
six on them, and play by closing their eyes and pulling a
number from a hat.
3. The first student begins by placing a marker on START
and rolling the die or drawing a number. The student
moves that number of spaces on the board. If a student
lands on a square with an up arrow starting on it, they
can move to the top of the arrow. If a student lands on
a square with a down arrow beginning on it, they must
move to the bottom of the arrow.
