18.1 Installing the TMA/STMA on the Tower

This part describes how to install a TMA on the tower. The procedure for installing a single
TMA is the same as the procedure for installing the dual TMA.

Procedure
Step 1 Hoist the TMA and its accessories to the tower platform.
Step 2 Determine the position for installing the TMA.
Step 3 Run the long bolt through the hole in the TMA support and then through the hole in the fastener.
Secure the bolt.
Step 4 Connect the end of the outdoor 1/2-inch jumper that connects the antenna to the Antenna port
on the TMA.
Step 5 Connect the end of the outdoor 1/2-inch jumper that connects the feeder to the BTS port on the
TMA.

18.2 Installing the TMA/STMA on the Metal Pole

This part describes how to install a TMA on the metal pole. The procedure for installing a single
TMA is the same as the procedure for installing the dual TMA.

Prerequisite
The metal pole with a diameter of 45 mm [1.77 in.] to 125 [4.92 in.] mm is available.

Context

CAUTION
Huawei recommends that two persons install the TMA together. Prevent the TMA from falling
off a high position.
You should use a clamp shown in Figure 18-2 to fasten the TMA on the metal pole.

Figure 18-2 Clamp

Procedure
Step 1 Hoist the TMA and its accessories to the tower platform or the rooftop.
Step 2 Determine the position for installing the TMA.
NOTE

l For the TMA with connectors on both ends, install the TMA in a manner that the connector to the
antenna faces upwards and the connector to the base station faces downwards. The following steps take
this type of TMA as an example.
l For the TMA with connectors on the same end, install the TMA in a manner that both the connector
to the antenna and the connector to the base station face downwards.

Step 3 Lead the clamp around the pole and get one end of the clamp without a bolt through the slit on
the other end beneath the bolt, as shown in Figure 18-3.

18.3 Installing the TMA/STMA on the Wall

This part describes how to install a TMA on the wall. The procedure for installing a single TMA
is the same as the procedure for installing the dual TMA.

Procedure
Step 1 Hoist the TMA and its accessories to the rooftop.

Step 3 Use expansion bolts to fasten the TMA on the wall, as shown in Figure 18-4.

18.4 Installing the Jumper Between the Antenna and the

TMA/STMA
This part describes how to install the jumper between the antenna and the TMA/STMA.

Procedure
Step 1 Connect the jumper to the ANT connector on the TMA.
Step 2 Make a waterproof curve for the jumper.
NOTE

Bend the jumpers in a natural manner. The bending radius is 20 times larger than the jumper diameter.

Step 3 Bind the jumper using black cable ties and attach a label to the jumper. Figure 18-5 shows the
bound jumper.

NOTE

l Attach engineering labels 100 mm [3.94 in.] away from one end of each jumper.
l Bind the cable ties in one direction.
l When cutting the cable ties, leave a slack of 5 mm [0.197 in.] to 10 mm [0.394 in.] so that the cable
ties do not fall off the jumper due to temperature variation.
l Cut the cable ties evenly.

18.5 Installing the AISG Control Cable

The AISG control cable is a signal cable between the RCU and the SBT (or STMA). This part
describes how to install the AISG control cable.

Procedure
Step 1 Choose the connection method based on the length of the AISG control cable.
l For the 2-m-long [6.56-foot-long] ASIG control cable, connect the AISG male connector
of the cable to the AISG female connector of the STMA.
l For the 0.5-m-long [1.64-foot-long] ASIG control cable, connect the AISG male connector
of the cable to the AISG female connector of the SBT.

Step 2 Connect the AISG female connector of the AISG control cable to the 8-pin male connector of
the RCU
Figure 18-6 shows the connection of the AISG control cable between the SBT and the RCU.
