Detailed job description
Overall purpose:

To provide a satisfactory cleaning service to the MRC Centre Units in the Cambridge Area

Main duties / key responsibilities:

Empty bins & replace liners


Vacuum /sweep floors
Damp mop floors
Machine buffing of hard floor areas
Shampooing of carpets as and when required
Cleaning sanitary areas
Stripping & resealing hard floors as and when required

Person requirements
Education / Qualifications / Training required:

Essential: General standard of education

Previous work experience required:

Desirable: Previous cleaning experience

Knowledge and experience:

Essential: Ability to work on their own with minimum supervision. Ability to plan own work
load. Able to discuss issues with Domestic Supervisor. Flexibility and able to deal with
changing demands.

Desirable: Previous use of cleaning equipment, i.e. Polishers, Floor scrubbers

Personal skills/behaviours/qualities:

Essential: The post holder must be able to work efficiently & effectively on their own with
minimum supervision. The ability to plan the work and adapt to the changing demands of
the Unit is important in this role.
