CITATIONRESOURCESFORAPAANDMLAFORMAT

Citations are important because they indicate that you are using material that is not your
own. You MUST cite your sources. If you do NOT cite your
sources, you are plagiarizing or stealing someone elses research
and information.
Citations are formatted according to MLA format for our class.
Here is an example of an MLA formatted citation:

Ames, M. "Engaging "Apolitical" Adolescents: Analyzing the

Popularity and Educational Potential of Dystopian Literature
Post-9/11." The High School Journal, vol. 97 no. 1, 2013, pp. 3-20.
Project MUSE.

variety of sources.

SCHOLARLYARTICLEANALYSIS:GROUPPROJECT

The class will be divided into groups of three (3), which I have already chosen, and will announce at
the end of class. We will spend one class period in the library, where each group can locate a
scholarly article using journals, periodicals, magazines, or online databases. Each group should
choose a scholarly article that discusses ONE of the texts that we have read so far this year. Your
group will work together to analyze your selected article, using the annotation
code that we practiced together in class to identify the main components of
the article. You should examine the following points:
The main idea/argument of the article;
The thesis statement of the article (may be 1-2 sentences);
The authors use of analysis, synthesis, and research;
The authors use of citations;
The credibility of the authors argument;
How effectively the author argues his or her main idea.

Each member of the group should work together to contribute to the analysis of your article. Each
group will create a presentation using Google Slides or Prezi. This presentation should discuss all of
the above points. Each group member should speak for approximately 1one to one and a half
minutes. Group presentation dates will be announced after each student has been assigned to a
group.
