The purpose of this program is to enhance the development of


professionals in safety, health and risk management. RSC and UTHM
have devised a strategy to develop employment-related continuing
education program aimed at improving career opportunities in the
public and private sectors for those with demonstrable safety and
health skills.

Teaching & Learning Method
The teaching and learning methods used in the course reflect the wide
variety of topics and techniques associated with safety, health and risk
management. Lectures provide the framework, essential background
and knowledge base for each module and students are encouraged to
probe more deeply reading widely. Analysis, synthesis and application
of materials introduced in lectures are achieved through workshops,
case studies and syndicate work with tutor and peer review. Students
get the most from their training and lectures through industry
experienced lecturers.

Industrial visits will be arranged to benchmark OSH practice in the


industry to enhance students learning process to better understand the
subject matter. Our connection with various and numerous industries
will assist students in securing jobs after graduation. Our aim is to
ensure students are trained according to the industrial requirements
and are up and running to implement OSH system in their work place
once assume the responsibility as a safety and health executive.

Assessment
This programme will involve course assessment as follows:

1. Paper 1

3. Workstation

4. Workplace Assignment.

Awarding of Certificate
Attendance Certificate in Safety and Health Officer will be awarded by
UTHM and Miffa to participants upon successful completion of the
course separately.

Registration of Safety & Health Officer


Participants will be able to sit for the Safety and Health Officer
examinations held by NIOSH by having the Miffa certificate. After
passing all four (4) examination papers and having practiced for 3
consecutive years, participants will be able to register as a Competent
Safety and Health Officer with the Department of Occupational Safety
and Health Putrajaya.
