INTRODUCTION

Sambandam Spinning Mills was established in the year 1973 by the visionary
and pioneer late Sambandam.S.P Founder.

The history of Sambandam Spinning Mills is in many ways the history of the
Textile Industry in Salem. The Sambandam Spinning Mills has contributed to the
development of the industry in general in Tamil Nadu and in particular in Salem
District by promoting self reliance, research, import substitution, exports and
technology. The Company has also demonstrated its staying power by ensuring
quality and customer satisfaction as the prime objectives. In fact, as a pioneer,
Sambandam Spinning Mills today is looked upon with respect and reverence as a
company that paved the way for the rest to follow.

The Company celebrated its Sliver Jubilee, and is now working

through the Golden Jubliee.

The company has the following 2 Units to manufacture 100% Cotton

Yarns, Blended Yarns and Yarns produced out of special fibers like Modal, X-
Static, Tencel etc.

a. The company provides complete power and authority to the HR officer for recruiting the
supervisors, employees, workers assistants on the basis of educational qualification for
the jobs availed.

b. The top level management like departmental heads are appointed by the General Manager
along with the guidance and control from head office and he is confined to be changed
for every three to six years by their performance.

Light facilities are available in every room for getting better brightness.

Ample space is available for parking two wheelers and four wheelers and for
Lorries also.

The company also provides good housing facilities for all the employees working
in their company..

POWER FACILITY

Presently, our state is facing the problem of scarcity of power supply. So, in this
regard, the company set invertors and generators inside the industrial campus.

The company also have temples of Lord Ganapathy and Lord Lakshmi inside the
campus.

FIRST AID

Being a manufacturing company, the company have first aid boxes in every sub
sections of production department.
 HOLIDAYS

The only holidays for the company are Ayudha Pooja, Pongal and Deepavali.

Other than this, the company as directed by head office follows holidays on strikes, local
government holidays, and holidays due to the death of any VIPs.

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT

DEFINITION:

The process of conversion of raw materials into finished goods is known as Production

INPUT AND OUTPUT:

INPUT:

Any manufacturing industry must make use of any product as raw

materials for manufacturing the desired product. As discussed, the
company uses its raw materials as cotton and polyester.

The company uses 1000 kg of polyester and 1000 kg of cotton every day.

OUTPUT:

Any company is supposed to manufacture a final product once it

purchases raw materials after a certain process. The company produces its
final product as yarn.

The company produces 62928 spindles per day.

The company follows its principle over the long period of time that it purchases raw
materials from the states of Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh.

Even though, there are many suppliers, the company cannot get it from the direct
suppliers.

The company deals with the agencies for the purchase of raw materials

STOREROOM

Generally, the company holds store keeper to follow FIFO method, i.e., first come
first out method. The company maintains 2 store rooms for keeping the goods. They
are,

COTTON GODOWN

The cotton godown is 3 cent landed near to the Production Department

where the stock of cotton is maintained by the Stock Engineer periodically

POLYSTER GODOWN

The polyester godown is also 3 cent landed near to the

Production Department where the stock of polyester is maintained by the Stock
Engineer periodically.
 MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT

QUANTITY AND QUALITY

The company is very sure about the outputs.
The maximum quantity of output produced per day is 10,000 kg.
The company also expects certain measures of quality in every aspect of functions of the
company i.e. from purchase to the sale.

Organisation.
