7.6.1. General
Energy, which is not used to do active movements can be considered in loss
energy.
Although energy cannot be destroyed it can be converted into heat, which is
useless for performing work through hydraulics.
With the following measures an optimizing of the energy efficiency in our
machines is obtained oil delivery of specified pumps in relation to definite
movements of the excavator.

x If individual movements (single movements) are selected, the pumps will

) have the maximum flow, with one exception. Pump #1 will deliver only the
half flow when high speed swing is selected.
(important for PM-clinic and other tests)
a. Individual movements of the Attachment are selected:
=>Y146 OFF + Y147 OFF + Y148 OFF + Y126 ON
b. Only travel is selected:
=>Y146 OFF + Y147 OFF + Y148 OFF + Y126 ON
c. Only swing (low speed) is selected:
=>Y146 ON + Y147 OFF + Y148 ON + Y126 ON
d. Only swing (high speed) is selected:
=>Y146 ON + Y147 OFF + Y148 OFF + Y126 OFF

7.6.2 Checks and adjustments

To check the function of the energy efficiency system it is necessary to
follow the instructions below.
Adjusting the flow control:
1. Connect pressure gauge (0-60bar) to check point M19
2. Turn the superstructure 90 to the travel direction.
3. Apply the swing parking brake on.
4. Move bucket close to the side frame and raise one track off the ground
just to get the track free.
5. Activate the travel pedal of the lifted track fully in one direction. Make
sure that there is no other function activated.
6. Test of max. pump flow: Y146, Y147 and Y148 must be de-energized and
Y126 must be energized.
Check the time of five (5) sprocket revolutions. See table Pump Flow control
test values next page for the required time.
7. Test of optimized pump flow: Activate the swing function (against the
brake).
8. Let the sprocket turn with the swing function still applied (swing parking
brake closed).
9. Measure the time required to turn the sprocket 5 revolutions.
See table Pump Flow control test values next page for the required
time.-

x Values are based for machine working from see level up to 3600m.
Machines working on higher altitude require a reduced Qmax setup
which influences the test values.

) x X3 or Pst: both are the same pressure. It is the pressure to control the
maximum permissible pump output flow. Pst is the port name of the
main pump

If adjustment is required
Change the setting at pressure control valve (152):
a. Loosen lock nut (a) of the pressure control valve.
b. Turn clockwise set screw (b) of the pressure control valve 152 to
reduce or counter clockwise to increase the sprocket speed.
Adjust the sprocket speed according to the table below.
c. Look set screw with the lock nut.

determine the optimized pump flow.
