I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Marian the manager of the consumer loan section feel the rage surge from deep

within her. Even though she was usually in control of her behavior, it was not easy to

control her internal emotions. She would be free to think about the problem and make

an aggressive decision about solving it. Yet for some reason shes had made it and be

able to solve the companys dilemma. Her actions impressed Vince Stoddard, the

president, by her credentials and aggressiveness. Since he hired her, he knew that

Marain would be best for the company. Marian has served the company for 10 years.

Her reputation for aggressive pursuit of business goals was almost legendary among

local bankers. She was active in the credit association and worked long, hard hours.

Vince believed that she was the ideal person for the position despite having Dave as the

second option. He is well liked around here and deeply respected. But Dave was

nothing but a pain in the neck for Marian. She sensed his resentment from the first day

she came to work. Although he never said anything negative, his aggravating way of

ending most conversations with her was a cold treatment towards her.

One day, she called a staff meeting with all of the section heads. Conflict arisen and

she noticed that all eyes are on Dave. That action immediately angered her.. Staff

meetings were now more frequent and Marian was more prone to explode angrily with

threats of what would happen if they didnt improve. To consolidate her position, she

had talked the situation over with Vince. Marian thought to herself what could happen if

he fires Dave.

II. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Marians emotional Instability

Daves job satisfaction and commitment.

Symptoms and root causes of the problems

. The primary root of these problems is her emotional instability and assumption

of her employees meeting her standards.

Short Term Problems and Long Term Problems

The short term problem would be the companys dilemma about the decreasing

loan volume and increasing payment delinquency. The long term problem would be

the personality of Marian which is aggressiveness and emotionally instability towards

her co-workers unless changed.

III. CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

Marian the manager of the consumer loan sections is faced with problems like:

emotional instability or the personality trait characterized by a lack of emotional control

and a tendency towards unpredictable and changeable emotions or moods.

Theory: (Emotional Instability) in organization. Defined as employee relationship

distortion, competition rivalries and decreasing numbers of the company especially in

her section.

Her emotional stability is not that good that the only way of her achieving peace

is her solitary confinement to her executive office, faced with employee problems which

is not managing them well due to them favoring her competitor Dave Kattar, the

employee that stayed longer in the company than her, Dave himself who does bring her

pain in the neck by not meeting her standards, and all of this combined that resulted to

the crisis in the company.

IV. DECISION AND CRITERIA AND ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION

Emotional Instability

Problem: This problem is created due to her attitude, a healthy individual that is in a

working environment should not possess this because the environment itself creates

stress, what more if the individual has their own issues too.

Solution: She must seek for the help of a guidance counselor that specializes in

emotion handling or decreasing the anger tendencies of a person. Her counselor must

focus on her issues which are her relationship to her co-workers, and the crisis of the

company. She must learn to handle her emotions by herself too since the only one

whos going to help her in that issue is herself. Losing this will make her be friendly and

open with Dave Kattar who is creating the problems too. Marian should be aware of her

emotions because it is the primary root,

Management (Employees and the company schemes)

Problem: The case stated that there have been decreasing loan volume and

payment delinquencies in the span of six months.

Solution: She must leave the management of the consumer loans section in terms

of employee relationship to Dave Kattar since he knows them so well that it will be easy

for them to obey, keep Dave Kattar for this purpose. The problems stated are caused by

the weak communication within Marian and the employees in the consumer loan

sections, she is great at the job but the job is not done by her alone.

V. RECOMMENDATION

1. One goal and peace within Marian and Dave and discuss the problem of the

company together. With this, there will be no sense of competition within Marian and

Dave since they serve two different functions which with Marian is being the sole head

loan officer while making Dave as the manager of the sections that will create an open

communication within them.

2. Employee Stress Management, the company should implement seminars regarding

for employees stress in the workplace.

3. When stress exceeds your comfort zone, it stops being helpful and can start causing

major damage to your mind and body as well as your job satisfaction. But no matter

what you do for a living, or how stressful your job is, there are plenty of things you can

do to reduce your overall stress levels and regain a sense of control at work.
