Checklist for Your Phoenix Hamlet

We at Phoenix Voyage are strong advocates of organic, NON GMO farming and every Phoenix
Hamlet is required to use only organic, NON GMO seeds. We are here to assist every step of the
way... although the success of your Hamlet depends on your community members.

The Phoenix Hamlet forum is available on the PV website for Phoenix Hamlet community members to
share their experience, new ideas, struggles and successes. Phoenix Hamlet communities located in
the same country are encouraged to share seeds and create cool ideas for events in their country.

Together...we can change the world. Happy Voyaging!

With Love,
The Phoenix Voyage Team

Soil Preservation Ideas to protect the soil

Mulches, ground cover plants, etc.

Trying to maintain bare soil in the garden works against nature, because nature aims to fill the
space with anything to protect the soil, and the plants that do this best are pioneer plants, often
disrespectfully referred to as weeds.
Bare soil will be compacted by rain, which will degrade the soil structure, as well as wash away
the top layer.
No-dig gardening preserve the soil, as turning the soil destroys the soil structure and exposes
the deeper soil layers to the suns UV light and heat, which kills the soil biota (living things in
the soil).
Garden beds can aid in maintaining good soil, as long as they are a size you can reach into
easily so you never step into the garden beds. Stepping on the soil destroys the soils structure by
compacting it, preventing air and water penetration to the plants roots, which affects plant
health, restricts plant growth and reduces productivity.

Farm Stand If your goal is to create revenue, the following options should be considered:

Registering the business

Size of farm stand
Managers and sales team
Location of stand
Materials to be used
Outreaching to local restaurants
You can even set up a raw food bar restaurant!
