1.0 INTRODUCTION

This supplement contains information regarding CPI digital interface option for the CMP 200 DR
generator.

2.0 INSTALLATION

2.1 CONNECTIONS

The CPI interface option is a software interface that is programmed through the generator console or
service utility.

3.0 CONFIGURATION AND PROGRAMMING

To program the Generator for the CPI interface option operation, please follow the steps below:

a) Make sure the license key supplied with the Generator unlocks the digital interface options
feature. The unlocked features can be viewed in the GenWare MP About dialog box. Start
GenWare MP and make sure it establishes communication with the generator. Press the
About button on the GenWare MP toolbar to open the About dialog box. If the Digital
Interface Options feature is enabled it will be displayed in the Features list as shown below.

Note: If the Digital Interface Options feature is locked on an attempt to set an interface option to any
number other than 0 the generator will leave the value of the interface option unchanged.

b) Enter the Generator programming mode (See service manual chapter 3C).
c) Select the GEN CONFIGURATION menu.
d) Enter the RECEPTOR SETUP menu.
e) Select the Receptor that is to be configured with the CPI interface option.
f) Set the INTERFACE OPTION parameter to 40.

THEORY OF OPERATION

3.1 GENERAL

The generator control board contains an additional set of inputs and outputs used to interface to a digital
system when interface option is set to CPI interface option 40.
The interface can be used with a Bucky enabled or disabled for a selected receptor. When a Bucky is
enabled the generator will first drive the Bucky, and only when the Bucky is ready the generator will drive
the detector (Figure 2). If the Bucky for a selected receptor is disabled, the generator will only drive the
detector (Figure 1). For Bucky interconnections and the instructions on programming a Bucky interface
refer to the CMP200 DR Service Manual.

3.2 GENERATOR OUTPUT SIGNALS

3.2.1 PREP REQUEST (EXP_PREP)

The Prep Request signal (EXP_PREP) is an output signal from the Generator to a digital system. The
Generator will activate the EXP_PREP signal when the Prep input is enabled (Prep button/switch
pushed/pressed) and it will deactivate the signal when the Prep input is disabled (Prep button/switch is
released) or if the exposure ends or an error occurs.

3.2.2 EXPOSURE REQUEST (EXP_REQ)

The Exposure Request signal (EXP_REQ) is an output signal from the Generator to a digital system. The
Generator will activate the EXP_REQ signal when the X-Ray input is enabled (X-Ray button/switch
pushed/pressed) and the Generator is ready to expose and it will deactivate the signal when the X-Ray
input is disabled (X-Ray button/switch released) or if the exposure ends or an error occurs.

3.2.3 EXPOSURE ON (EXON)

The Exposure On signal is an output signal from the Generator to a digital system. The Generator will
activate the EXON signal during the exposure phase. This signal will be inactive during all other
Generator phases.

Use and disclosure is subject to the restrictions on the title page of this CPI document.

3.3 GENERATOR INPUT SIGNALS

3.3.1 EXPOSURE CONFIRMATION (EXP_OK)

The Exposure Confirmation signal (EXP_OK) is an output signal from a digital system to the Generator.
For the exposure to get released, the signal must become active. If the signal does not become active
within 10 seconds from the time the generator is ready to expose, the generator will report an error 27
Receptor Timeout and return to the Standby state. If the X-Ray switch is released within the 10 seconds
that the generator is waiting for the EXP_OK signal, the software will report an error 13 Manually
Terminated Exposure. When all the conditions for the exposure release are satisfied and the input
becomes active the Generator will release the exposure using current exposure settings. If during the
exposure the signal becomes inactive the Generator will immediately terminate the exposure and report
an error 13 Manually Terminated Exposure.
