ICT Innovate (Formerly ADT Teach, name of project to be decided)

Name of potential donor:

About SAEP

Vision: A generation of young people who are equipped with the education and life
skills to maximise their potential and thrive as fully participating citizens
Mission: SAEP prepares children and youth at key stages of their development, through
education, life skills and psycho-social support.

Context:
ADT Teach was developed by SAEP at the request of ADT South Africa. It was designed to provide
quality ICT education in township schools where this was non-existent. Since the project began in
2009, it has reached over 3550 high school learners in Grade 10-12.
ADT has been taken over by Fidelity Security and the company has decided to stop supporting the
project. We are looking for a new sponsor.

Over the years, the programme has developed to provide relevant ICT education to learners and
support to the schools. It has identified and fostered additional skills that connect to higher
education, the workplace and society. It is a marketable and scalable programme, with a proven
track record and reputation in place.

Rationale for the Project:

The project addresses gaps between ICT skills required and a lack of capacity in township schools.
It provides skills required for further education, employability and society. The programme also
provides a talent-pool for prospective training and employment in the ICT sector

Project Goals and Objectives:

To provide essential ICT skills to learners and schools that need it most.
To increase the viable talent pool from which sponsors may one day recruit
To increase sponsor reputation through real, visible marketing opportunities

Expected Results:
The learners who complete the course develop ICT skills, self-confidence, time-management,
communication skills, are university-ready and have greater awareness of career opportunities.
M&E and alumni testimonials have shown that they are succeeding at higher education and in the
workplace. They are loyal to the programme and become brand-ambassadors for the sponsor.

Innovation:
This programme is holistic and has identified a variety of benefits to the learners and the sponsor
that are not explicitly curriculum-based. It provides tangible upliftment to the individual and their
community, as well as the schools they attend. 21st Century skills are evidenced in the learners
improved confidence, time-management, communication-skills.

Marketing opportunities for the sponsor come naturally and abundantly from the programme
enhancing company brand and reputation. There are opportunities to lift employee morale and
provide motivating opportunities for the learners. This is an existing programme with a track
record of stability and improvement, as well as a positive, consistent school community
relationship in place.
