2 Installation / System
After installing the software a restart of your Windows system is required to finish
the installation successfully.
During installation of ACTIMED under up to W-NT it can be necessary to start
ConActX and ConActX Test Module once from the current user to set user specific
entries in Windows registry.
5
S.P.L. ACTIMED User Guide
Doing that you can point to equal or different physical databases with the ODBC
entries ACTIMED_3DB and CxTmDB. That gives you the opportunity to put the
database to the network and let multiple ACTIMED installations access one
database.
If you cant access the ODBC entries using the ODBC-Data source-Administrator
because they are invisible, you can configure them editing the registry directly.
On request it is possible to connect ACTIMED to different databases like Oracle or
Interbase.

S.P.L. ACTIMED User Guide
A powerful tool when viewing data in table view is the record filter. You can use it to
display only records of interest. You can rapidly reduce the number of visible
records by defining conditions used to filter records. To select a record you will have
to place the record selector to any field in the record line.
The comparison operator is used to specify the conditions for filtering records. The
filter options are applied to the fields you specify. Depending on whether a condition
is true or not a record will be displayed or not.
The following list shows all valid comparison operators:
= equal
<> not equal
> greater than
>= greater than or equal
< lower than
<= lower than or equal
You can select pull-down menu entries to display tables or dialogs. Bold menu
entries are the default entries and you can select them by double-clicking the parent
menu.
ACTIMED contains a comprehensive online help system based on HTML. You can
access it by clicking the function key F1.
ACTIMED supports comprehensive print out functionalities. You can access them
from the table views. You can edit the sample reports that come with ACTIMED or
you can define your own reports. For further descriptions of print out functionalities

7.3 Options
This dialog is used to enter license information.
Additionally you can specify the behaviour of ACTIMED 3. This setting is important
for communication between several ACTIMED 3 installations and specifies whether
the installation should behave like a client or a server installation. For further
information please refer to the import / export section of this documentation.
You can specify if Device Detection should be performed automatically starting
ACTIMED 3.
It is possible to use ACTIMED 3 in a local area network. This means that used
records must me locked to protect them against multiple use. If a record is not
closed correctly the record is still locked. This means it cannot be used before it is
unlocked. The Remove Record Locks functionality is a possible way to unlock
accidentally locked records that were not unlocked automatically.

7.5 Export
The Export is used for output of all data base information of ACTIMED 3. Selecting
an output specification file with the dee file extension you can specify the export
format.
Export data using the Extras / Export is a full data export. That means that all
devices available are exported in the format described by the dee file. It is not
possible to select sub data sets using selection criterions.
To export only those devices that fulfil a special criterion you can start the export
from the Device List by choosing Data Exchange Export. There the export format is
automatically detected using the Client/Server setting from the Extras / Options
menu.
31
S.P.L. ACTIMED User Guide
The server creates a file that can only be read from the client. The client creates a
file that can only be read by the server performing data import.
This Client / Server functionality enables testing organizations or workgroups to use
a central server installation and administer and evaluate device data.
Device data for devices to be tested can be exported from such a central
installation. The export file can then be imported into a client installation, e.g. on a
notebook. The clients now are used to test the devices following the Test
Instructions. After testing the Test Protocols can be transferred to the server
installation using import and export functionalities. Changes regarding the device
data should be done using the server installation.
The export and import dont contain functionalities for importing or exporting Test
Instructions. This has to be performed separately using the menu in the Test
Instruction list.
7.6 Import
The import is used to read in data base information into ACTIMED 3 stored in files.
The import format is stored in an import specification file with the dei file
extension.
32
S.P.L. ACTIMED User Guide
Device data that was exported using the client server functionality can be imported
from the Device List Data Exchange Import menu option.
The import format is selected automatically depending on the Client / Server setting
done in the Extras Option menu.
After importing device data you have to re-open the device table to see the imported
devices.
Optionally it is possible to remove all device data stored in the database before the
import takes place. That is useful if a client should only contain data of devices that
actually have to be tested and therefore have to be imported before. You delete the
devices by checking the Delete all device data before import option.
This option is useful to easily backup and restore all ACTIMED 3 data.
Test Instructions and dialog settings are not saved using this functionality. Please
do a complete security copy of the ACTIMED program and database to save all
data regularly.

The following example describes the test procedure to perform a test correctly.
These hints shall give an example for an course of a test under application and
processing of a Test Instruction with ACTIMED 3 / ConActX Test Module.
This example does not lay a claim on completeness and correctness
GS-X SAFE, GS-X DEFI, circuit analyser with battery test function
Visual inspection
At first a visual check is accomplished at the test object. This visual check has e.g.
following points:
For all steps specified here only one function is produced, which expects as positive
result "Yes". Then the appropriate work steps are generated from this function.
These work steps then are assigned to the appropriate test instruction plus the
evaluation.
e.g.
function: View 1 - visual inspection
work step: visual inspection of housing
evaluation: yes, absolute tolerance, target value 1, deviation 0
Electrical safety
39
S.P.L. ACTIMED User Guide
e.g.
function: SPL20
work step: measurement of protective ground resistance
parameter: cyclically
evaluation: 0 - 0,5 ohms
For all steps specified here the functions SPL01 - SPL44 are deposited, which
expects a measured value in the appropriate unit as result. Then from these
functions corresponding work steps under allocation of the appropriate parameters
(set up time, measuring time) were generated. These work steps then become in
the appropriate test instruction with the allocation of an evaluation a test step.
Function test
- defibrillation asynchronously
- defibrillation paddle synchronously
- defibrillation monitor synchronously
For all steps specified here the function xxx DEFI2 is deposited, which expects as
result one or more single measured values in the appropriate unit. Then from these
functions corresponding work steps under allocation of the appropriate parameters
(measuring range, pulse form, pulse amplitude, pulse time) are generated. These
work steps then become in the appropriate test instruction with the allocation of an
evaluation a test step.
e.g.
function: SPL215 DEFI 2
work step: defibrillation asynchronously
parameters: measuring range 2
evaluation: energy; 350 - 370 Joule
maximum voltage: 2900 - 3100 V
pulse time: 2 - 4 ms
User-defined examinations
- battery test
For this step at first a function with appropriate unit is put on. From this function a
work step is generated. This work step is then assigned to the appropriate test
instruction plus the evaluation.
40
S.P.L. ACTIMED User Guide
Test procedure
The test instruction is selected. Then this test instruction is started in automatic
operation.
At first the visually inspecting steps are done. If the result is positive the next test
step is called automatically.
Then the test steps of electrical safety are processed. These obtain a measured
value as result. If the result is positive the next test step is called automatically.
Following the function test steps are called. These have usually one or more
measured values as result e.g..
41
S.P.L. ACTIMED User Guide
These results are indicated in a result dialogue. Furthermore this dialogue offers the
possibility (depending on possibly function) to show a taken up measured value row
(e.g. 1024 measured values) in form of a curve. This curve is then shown with the
help of a special diagram. There this curve can be measured or printed out.
The taken up measured value row and / or the curve resulting from it, cannot be
stored at the moment. This applies in principle also to all other functions with curve
displaying. With none use of the curve displaying the results of the measurements
are transferred automatically after an adjustable time to the test instruction. The
single results of measurement are evaluated in the test provision singly.
At the end of the measurement the user-defined test is called and the value
determined with the circuit analyser is registered. The result of the measurement is
evaluated in the test instruction.
Now the test report in the window test report 2 can be classified depending on
examination.
Now the test report with "Print" can be printed out, be exported with "Export" into
any file or be spent with OK to ACTIMED 3.
