STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Todays Preparation Determines Tomorrows Achievement.

Right from my school, I had a penchant towards Mathematics, Science and research in general. This interest led
me to take up Math, Physics and Chemistry as my major subjects in 10+2. I was astounded by the power of
Electrical & Electronics when I created a Physics project of logic gates and simple latches using basic circuit
elements. After two years of Intermediate Education (with 88.1%), as my interest for the practical arena
heightened, it captivated me to take the path heading towards the technical study and therefore I chose the
Bachelors Program in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Khammam Institute of Technology & Sciences,
one of the premier institutes under the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.

During the course of my undergraduate study, I was exposed to various courses with applications like
Electromagnetic Field, Control Systems, Power Electronic, Electrical Measurements, Linear Integrated Circuits,
Electronics, Pulse and Digital Circuits, Computer Methods in Power System Control, Digital Signal Processing,
Power Systems (1&2), Electrical Machines (1&2), Micro Processors & Micro Controllers, High Voltage
Engineering, Modeling of Power System Components, and Utilization of Electrical Energy. I also became well
versed with the use of packages like Pspice and Matlab.

I did my mini project titled STUDY OF STATIC EXCITATION SYSTEM& AVR. The aim of excitation system is to
control the voltage so that operation is possible near to steady state stability limit, maintain voltage under
system fault conditions to ensure rapid operation of protective rear, facilitate sharing of reactive load between
machines operating in parallel. My major project was titled SWITCHING LOSSES AND HARMONIC
INVESTIGATIONS IN MULTILEVEL INVERTER. This paper compares total harmonic distortion and switching
losses in conventional two level inverters with multilevel inverters (three levels and five levels) at different
switching frequencies. This project was successful and highly acclaimed by our professors.

Besides being good at academics, I regularly took part in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities and was
rewarded with merit and participation certificates. I have presented papers and participated in Technical Quiz
and Robotics competitions in various National level technical symposia. I have also Organized Paper
Presentation in EKATRA-2011, a national level technical symposium and served as a Coordinator.

I would be an ideal candidate for your university since I have consistently performed well in my Academics as
well, procured 79.01% and above in each semester in bachelors course. I have always been in the top 2 in my
class throughout my Educational Career and I will strive to keep up my Academic Record. However, I am of the
opinion that theoretical alone is of little use unless it is accompanied by practical knowledge. Understanding is
prodded by actually seeing things work. My curious nature coupled with my strong desire to build a career
where my intellectual abilities are utilized to maximum, led to the development of a strong ambition of
pursuing a career in this ever-expanding field. My goal is to master the subject of Power Engineering and do
research on the subject.

One of the reasons, I desire to graduate from your prestigious University is that I would receive education that
would enable me to accomplish my goals, as ample opportunities exist for students like me to initiate
independent study and to become involved in active research programs, both experimental and theoretical.
With excellent research facilities and highly knowledgeable faculty, XYZ University will provide a perfect
environment to focus all my resources towards research. I fully understand the kind of dedication, perseverance
and resolve a graduate program calls for; I believe that I have the ability and determination to stride on this
exciting path.
