Background
Vision Corporation has recently acquired an Oracle Business Intelligence consulting company called
Oracle Business Reporting Corporation (OBR). Vision Corporation has chosen your organization for
implementation services related to the acquisition and integration of OBR into the parent corporation.

You will need to configure and deploy the additional workforce structures and other configuration to
allow the successful integration of OBR employees into the parent company.
Note that where screenshots have been provided for clarity, the entries shown are indicative only and
do not represent correct answers.

Assumptions:

1. You must have access to an HCM Cloud HRMS GSE environment with which to complete
this lab session.
2. Log in details will be provided in the class.
3. Each task assumes that the previous task was completed and data is available.

Lab HR- 1 Creating Legal Entities


Objective: To create legal employers in the system 20 minutes

Instructions:
In this exercise you will create two companies for Oracle Business Reporting Corporation (OBR), an
acquisition by Vision Corporation. These are defined as legal entities within HCM Cloud that are also

Objective: To create legal reporting units in the system 20 minutes

Instructions:
In this exercise you will maintain two legal reporting units that are associated with the legal employers
created earlier.

A legal reporting unit (LRU) is the lowest level component of a legal structure that requires
registrations. A default LRU is created for each legal employer, and this can be configured as a tax
reporting unit and/or reporting establishment

environment has defined different SetIDs for Business Unit, Department and Location.

Objective: Create new departments within the system 15 minutes

Instructions:
In this exercise you shall create new departments for the two new legal employers. The new legal
employers will share some departments with existing back-office groups at Vision Corp but will
require separate Operations and Consulting departments for the two countries.

Lab HR- 6 Update Organization Tree


Objective: Enter new organization structures into the

Instructions:
In this exercise you will update the existing organization tree with new division, legal employer,
business unit and department information related to Oracle Business Reporting structures.

Open the organization tree titled Vision Corporation Organization Tree. The following updates should
be made to the draft Corp Tree Version 2
- Add Oracle Business Reporting Division underneath Vision Corp
- Add the two legal employers underneath this new Division
- Add the two business units underneath each legal employer, by country
- Add the two new departments underneath each business unit, by country

Once complete, save the changes then activate the tree. Finally, execute the tree-flattening process
against the organization tree such that the changes are available for reporting.

Expected Results:
You have created new organization tree structures, and can view them in the tree. The tree is valid
and active.

Lab HR- 7 Update Geographies


Objective: Add a new Geography entry to support a new

In this exercise you will update the United Kingdom geography data to support a new Postal Code
entry that is currently not recognized.

When trying to enter a Reading location with the postal code of RG1 1AB, you find that this doesnt
validate. Update the UK Geography hierarchy to add this post code in. Note that Reading is in the
county of Berkshire.

Expected Results:
The postal code RG1 1AB is now valid when adding or changing UK addresses for employees or
locations. You will use this postal code when creating locations in a later exercise.

respectively, with 15% minimum and maximum variance salaries

use the details that you have already entered into the HR system including location, department, job
and grade.

Objective: Create an Assignment Descriptive Flexfield to

Instructions:
In this exercise you will create an Assignment descriptive Flexfield to track internal title information for
each worker.

Task:

Manage Descriptive Flexfields

Create a new segment against the Flexfield PER_ASG_DF. This should be a 60 character field that
stores internal Title information. You can use a value set to enforce a 60 character limit on a text
field. Also note that you can deploy a Flexfield change to a sandbox first, and verify that the behavior
is as expected before deploying to the environment.

Expected Results:
HR Specialists can access Manage Employment task and enter an Internal Title against the current
assignment row for a worker. Managers executing MSS transactions will also be able to update the
Internal Title field.

Lab HR- Manage Area of Responsibility

In this exercise you will designate HR professionals as the HR staff responsible for the new OBR
employees within the system

Task:

Person Management

Navigate to Person Management and select an employee who acts in the Job of Human Resources
Specialist in the Atlanta location. Add a new responsibility to the employee which assigns them to the
OBR US Legal Employer. Select a second employee that has the same Job at the London location,
and add a responsibility entry for the OBR UK Legal Employer.

Expected Results:
Selected workers will now show as HR Representatives for OBR legal employers; when viewing any
worker that is hired against an OBR Legal Employer, the listed workers will appear as their HR
Representatives. Any approvals that route to the HR Specialist for a worker will route to one of these
selected workers.

Instructions:
In this exercise you will amend the new hire workflow such that any new hires into the newly-created
OBR companies will route to the correct HR Specialists for approval

Task:

Manage Approval Transactions for Human Capital Management

Using the Approval flow Hire an Employee, create a new rule that will route to the HR Specialist Area
of Responsibility if the new hire is in either of the new OBR business units. Ensure to submit the
approval once complete. Also remember that the default rule should exclude any new clauses.

Expected Results:
For all new hires into the OBR Legal Employers, the approval will route to one of the selected workers
who are the AoR responsible as defined in the previous task.

OBR employees. Also create an Action of Rebalance, under the action type of Transfer, with action
reasons of Acquisition and Market Conditions

New hires will have the available action reason Acquisition. When transferring workers, you may
select Rebalance as a valid action with the listed action reasons.

Instructions:
In this exercise you will configure a new hire checklist task that is only available for workers being
hired into the new OBR US and OBR UK legal employers

Manage Checklist Template

Create a new eligibility profile with type Checklist, that indicates eligible workers that are in the OBR
US and OBR UK legal employers. Then add a new task to the New Hire On Boarding Checklist
checklist template that will route to the assigned Human Resources representative only if the new hire
is against an OBR legal employer. Assign the newly-created eligibility profile to the task to achieve
this.

Expected Results:
When hiring a new worker into the system, a new hire checklist will be created. For workers hired into
one of the two OBR Legal Employers, there will be an additional checklist item available.

Add a new PDF document against the Document Record store for this worker with a document type
of OBR Gym.

As an additional task, hire an employee into an OBR Legal employer with a hire date in 2014. Verify
that the previously-entered OBR location (task HR-8) shows as OBR XXX rather than Vision XXX.
Also confirm that the OBR departments are not accessible (as their effective dates are 1/1/2015)
you may use another department .

Expected results:
The new OBR workforce structures are available for use when hiring workers into the system. New
Hire approvals work as configured. Effective dates work correctly for workforce structures such as
location. New actions and action reasons are available. Documents can be loaded into the system
against new workers using the OBR document record type.

Objective: Transfer an existing employee 10 minutes

Instructions:
In this exercise you will transfer a new worker using the Manager Self-Service Transfer action

Task:

My Team

Log into the system as a manager (suggested user: Martine.Harrison). Under My Team, execute a
transfer for one of the direct reports. Transfer the user to the Oracle Business Reporting US
Business Unit and one of the configured OBR positions, and update the salary.

Expected results:
The new OBR workforce structures are available for use when transferring workers, including
business unit and position. Configured Transfer action types (Rebalance) are available. The
assignment Flexfield (Internal Title) is visible. Job and Salary changes can be made and submitted
successfully.
