Keynote Speaker: Dr. Kirsten Krick-Aigner, Wofford College

Speaker Bio: Kirsten Krick-Aigner, Ph.D., 1996, University of California, Santa Barbara. Professor
of German and Chair of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Wofford
College, Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she has taught since 1997. Her publications include
articles on Austrian and German post-World War Two memoirs and fiction, Austrian Jewish
Studies, and Austrian Sinti culture in autobiographies, fiction, and documentary films. Her book
publications include two co-edited volumes with Marc-Oliver Schuster, Jazz in Word (Wrzburg:
Knigshausen & Neumann, 2017) and Jazz in German-Language Literature (Wrzburg:
Knigshausen & Neumann, 2013), as well as Unredeemed Past: Themes of War and Womanhood
in the Works of Post-World War II Austrian Women Writers (Riverside, CA: Ariadne Press, 2011)
and Ingeborg Bachmanns Telling Stories: Fairy Tale Beginnings and Holocaust Endings (Ariadne
Press, 2002).

Schedule:

The 2018 conference is scheduled to begin on Friday, February 23. On Friday afternoon, weather
permitting, PAC participants will be able to view a parade by the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. The
keynote luncheon will take place on Saturday, February 24, and panels will conclude by 5pm. All
interested PAC participants are encouraged to stay for the Board Meeting, from 5-6pm on Saturday
evening. Please watch for email and website updates regarding the conference schedule and events.

Locations and Maps:

The Daniel Library is generously sponsoring PAC 2018 on the campus of The Citadel, close to historic
downtown Charleston. Daniel Library will host all conference panels in its beautiful spaces. General
directions to the Daniel Library and campus maps are posted here:

below.

Hotel Information:

PAC has reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express Charleston Dwtn - Ashley River (1 843 722
4000) for the special conference rate of $149/night, including complimentary breakfast and parking. The
conference rate is available for Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, 2/22, 2/23 and 2/24. To make a
reservation, use the group code PAC (all caps, no quotation marks). The conference rate is available
until January 24, 2018, or until the block fills. We recommend making a reservation as early as possible.

Directions from the Holiday Inn Express Charleston Dwtn - Ashley River to Daniel Library, The Citadel:

Walking:

Recommended Route (About 1 mile, ca. 23 mins)*

Head southwest from the hotel toward Lockwood Drive and turn right onto Lockwood Drive. Follow
Lockwood as it veers right at the Baseball stadium and becomes Fishburne Street. Continue along
Fishburne and turn left at the first light onto Hagood Avenue. Follow Hagood two blocks and through
the gates onto the Citadel Campus. Proceed straight ahead to Lee Ave. and turn right. Daniel Library will
be just ahead and to the left, at the corner of Lee Ave and Avenue of Remembrance. Enter from the Ave.
of Remembrance.

*A more direct route (ca. 16 minutes), heading north from the hotel onto Hagood Ave, involves
pedestrian-unfriendly roadways without sidewalks. We encourage you to use the Lockwood route.

Driving:

Exit the hotel parking areas turning right onto Lockwood Drive. Follow Lockwood as it veers right at the
Baseball stadium and becomes Fishburne Street. Continue along Fishburne and turn left at the first light
onto Hagood Avenue. Follow Hagood two blocks and through the gates onto the Citadel Campus.
Proceed straight ahead to Lee Ave. and turn right. Daniel Library will be just ahead and to the left, at the
corner of Lee Ave and Avenue of Remembrance. Enter from the Ave. of Remembrance.

Parking:

Visitor Parking is available on a first come, first served basis directly in front of the library, on the Avenue
of Remembrance, as well as in designated areas across The Citadel campus:

Off-campus parking (four-hour limit) is also available, on the residential streets adjacent to campus.
