Instructional
Provide instruction in the specific skills of problem solving, reasoning, and applying
concepts to real-world situations.
Goals Academically prepare students for success in high school mathematics.
Provide students with an effective learning environment that promotes the following
21st century skills: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

HOMEWORK
Homework is assigned daily, and all work must be shown for credit. This is an
area in which parents can take an active role. Parents should provide an
appropriate work area and check their childs work for neatness and
completeness throughout the year. It is important that students study the
material, identify any problem areas, and secure additional help immediately if
they have any questions.

Assignments LATE/MISSINGWORK
Assignments will include basic skills practice and problems solving applications.
Homework must be completed in the prescribed format and is due at the
beginning of the next class period. Students will check their own homework
through collaborative team discussions to encourage focused attention to
confusing areas, promote class participation, strengthen content knowledge, and
emphasize personal responsibility. Late work will be accepted for partial credit.
Students who do not submit late assignments by the end of the week will be
referred to the ZAP program. If a student is absent, he/she has the number of
days to make up the assignment(s) equal to the number of days absent. It is the
students responsibility to obtain all missed assignments.

ASSESSMENTS
Assessments may include tests, quizzes, performance tasks, and projects. Tests
and quizzes will be announced in advance. In an effort to improve their grade,
students will have the opportunity to retake and/or make corrections to tests
and quizzes. In the case of an absence, students are responsible for scheduling a
time to make up missed assessments.

Grades are updated weekly and available on ParentConnection 24 hours 7 days a
