Activity Title: Human Shadow Play
Type of Activity: Group Project Presentation
Learning Target: To interpret a famous
Classical composition through human shadow
play.
I. CONCEPT NOTES
As the Classical period took over in the
mid-1700s and the Baroque era was winding
down, a few defining characteristics emerged.
Where the music of the Baroque period was
ordered, efficient and complex, the new sound
of the classical period tended to focus on
simplifying things a little bit, but also making
them bigger. The objective of the project is to
make a presentation interpreting the famous
Classical works through human shadow play.
II. STUDENT ACTIVITY
1. Class will be divided into four groups.
2. Each group will be assigned to the following
Classical works:
a. Symphony in C minor
b. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
c. London Symphony
d. Fur Elise
3. Materials such as lights and textile cloth
shall be provided by the whole class.
4. Presentation of the project is after the
second quarter examination.
4. Criteria for grading:
Creativity of Concept 40 points
Showmanship/Presentation 40 points
Mastery/Group Participation 20 points
