Properties of Molecular systems
II: ASEOTROPTC DATA
The tables in this section give the properties of the various binary and
ternary azeotropes at 760 torr (mm ig) formed by the liquids included in the
table of the properties of solvents and common liquids (p. 4). in the
various sources for these data much discrepancy was found. The data on
boiling points were much more reliable than those on percent composition but
nevertheless contained enough disctepancies to justify the reporting of bp
values only to the nearest degree. In some casag this discrepancy was
resolved by finding agreement in two, three, or four of the sources, although
usually it was impossible to determine if the data had come from the same
original source. By far the most reliable figures appear in Azeotropic Data,
Vols. T and II, Advances in Chemistry Series, Nos. 6 and 35, Atterican
Chemical Society, Washington, D.C., 1952 and 1962, from which most of the
information appearing here was obtained, When a Severe discrepancy could
not be resolved, the azeotrope was not included in this table. A binary
azeolrope index'is given on page 18. The column entitled "No." in the
tables below refers to entries in the main table of the properties of solvents
and common liquids (p. 4). Composition of azeotropes is in weight percent.
